JOB SUMMARY: Perform full-charge bookkeeping, accounting functions and administrative tasks in support of Horizon Outreach non-profit organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
This position will work independently to fulfill all functions of an experienced full-charge bookkeeper in a non-profit organization. Responsibilities will include: invoicing clients, prepare deposits, bill-paying, managing and recording cash receipts, reconciling general ledgers, creating & recording adjusting journal entries, managing donations and in-kind transactions, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Distributing program incentive checks/transportation tokens to designated personnel for clients.
The position will also prepare various lead schedules and analytics in support of the annual audit and form 990 preparation and the external CPA firm. Thorough understanding of accrual accounting and QuickBooks Desktop is required.
25% of job: Independently prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial closings which include reconciliation and analysis of assigned balance sheet accounts, preparation and posting of journal entries, review of operating statements and perform variance analysis.
50% of job: Banking, invoicing, bill-paying, managing and recording cash receipts, reconciling general ledgers, creating & recording adjusting journal entries (i.e. payroll, insurance, etc.) managing donations and in-kind transactions, depreciation schedules, updating QuickBooks, filing invoices in vendor files, Filing Quarterly SUTA Tax Payment Reports, Updating Employee Timesheet Corrections/Vacation Accruals/Humana Insurance Deductions, SF 425 Financial Report supporting documents – preparation, EOM Financial report printing and distribution to CEO. Records and Schedules Payroll in ADP System.
20% of job – Administrative Tasks & Functions – Filing, Supporting CEO with ad-hoc grant reports request. Support of client development efforts on an ad-hoc basis such as client research, analysis of dormant accounts, etc. Ensure all employees are requiring time properly in ADP Time Management System.
5% of job: Prepare various lead schedules and analytics in support of the annual audit and form 990 preparation and will be the lead person collaborating with the external CPA firm.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Work Experience: Accounting degree. 7 to 10 years of equivalent full-charge bookkeeping experience may be considered.
Required Licenses & Certifications: QuickBooks Pro Certified Applicants
Preferred: CPA License

Technical Competencies:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles
- Advanced Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop required

- Ability to work with and protect highly confidential information
