The Division of Graduate and Professional Studies provides academic leadership and oversight of the College’s graduate and professional programs. GPS offers in-person, hybrid, and fully online master’s degrees, graduate certificates, and professional development in business, education, and professional programs in science. Our academic programs are designed to empower working professionals and recent graduates to expand their employment and career opportunities through rigorous, convenient, and flexible academic offerings.
As part of the graduate admission team, this position recruits and enrolls students into graduate programs as part of the College’s overall graduate admission and recruitment plan. The Graduate Admission Counselor/Asst Director is responsible for helping to achieve enrollment goals for assigned programs. The role provides support to Graduate and Professional Studies and Graduate Admission Offices, primarily to recruit and support prospective students along the application pipeline and meet enrollment targets..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer and track inquiries and applications
- Working with prospective students and applicants from diverse cultures via email, phone, and in person to provide exceptional service;
- Advising prospective students to determine their educational goals and actively guide them through each phase of the admissions process;
- Processing leads and applications through Slate and web forms;
- Monitor application files to ensure admissions requirements are met
- Creating and/or maintaining prospective candidate records and manage general email inbox inquiries
- Collaborating with graduate directors and faculty to ensure a seamless process for applicants and admitted students
• Representing graduate programs at employment, recruitment, and graduate school fairs. • Helping to organize and plan engagement activities for events including Open House, Graduate Speaker series, and conferences;
- Coordinating activities for recruitment programing and outreach strategies under the supervision of the Director of Graduate Admissions
- Providing administrative assistance to the department (purchasing activities, scheduling, etc.)
- Maintaining a welcoming reception, campus visit programming and oversight of daily operations
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Slate experience preferred
- Graduate admission recruiting experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment
- Exceptional interpersonal, customer service and communication skills;
- Comfortable working in a fast paced and multi-tasking environment;
- Ability to organize effectively;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to resolve problems and to develop relevant alternatives and recommendations
