Family Law Paralegal

Sugarland, Texas
The Love DuCote Law Firm is currently seeking a diligent and dedicated Family Law Paralegal to join our team. While two (2) years of experience in family law is preferred, it is not a prerequisite. We welcome all candidates who are passionate about family law, are looking to be a long term team member, and are ready to make a difference in our client's lives.
The Family Law Paralegal will be responsible for assisting our legal team in preparing family law cases. This involves conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, maintaining and organizing case files, and assisting with case management. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Duties:
1. Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and court proceedings.
2. Conduct legal research to support legal proceedings.
3. Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
4. Assist with discovery and trial preparation, including the preparation of exhibits and witness coordination.
5. Maintain and organize case files, manage the case calendar, and ensure all deadlines are met.
6. Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, judicial administrative staff, and other involved parties.
7. Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining attorney schedules.
Qualifications:
1. Certification of Paralegal Studies- a member of State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division- or 2 years work experience as a paralegal (experience in family law is preferred but not required).
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
5. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
6. Proficiency in MacOS, legal research software (i.e., Clio) and Microsoft Office Suite.
