RENEWABLES ENERGY MEDIUM VOLTAGE TRAINING INSTRUCTOR
(WIND/SOLAR)
Minimum qualifications
- Instruction/teaching, public speaking skills and experience in training seminars or formal training courses in an adult education environment. 10 years (Preferred)
- Knowledge of basic/advanced electrical theory.
- Medium voltage>15kV URD cable utility installation/troubleshooting 15 years. (Preferred)
- Professional knowledge of turbine or solar equipment, including safety regulations. (10-15 years preferred)
- Experience with power plant operations and maintenance, wind/solar plant operations and turbines, high-voltage switching, and post-operational repair and maintenance. (Preferred)
- Must be skilled in how to use basic tools/specific tools for performing applicable tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints, electrical prints and other related technical documentation.
- Knowledge of operation and maintenance of wind turbine and solar equipment along with associated infrastructure including substation, collection and transmission systems.
- Background in mechanical and electrical component repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions following manufacturers' requirements.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment in accordance with OEM maintenance manuals.
- Familiarity with performing various retrofits and design modifications.
- Knowledge of electrical shock and flash hazards to include a calculation of boundaries.
- Knowledge of electrical hazards, safety regulations, the use of safe work procedures and personal protective equipment.
- Skilled with the installation of grounding live and dead front systems.
- Must possess computer skills in MS Office tools such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Adobe.
- Must possess strong communication and customer relation skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver basic and specialized training and seminars with a training curriculum.
- Communicate appropriate safety precautions with the hazards of electricity.
- Modify and adapt existing training curriculum by researching customer’s applications and creates new training programs as needed.
- Identify curriculum errors, areas of improvement and propose document changes.
- Tests trainees to measure progress, evaluate hands on training and provide ongoing training recommendations.
- Conduct on-line virtual training sessions.
- Participate in meetings, seminars and training sessions to keep abreast of industry standards.
- Deliver and participate in Train-the-Trainer programs and coach others involved in training efforts to provide growth and staff development opportunities.
- Assists other departments and participates in departmental meetings when required.
- Maintain, update, configure, and repair lab training equipment.
- Must be able to interpret OEM Data/NETA MTS to perform adjustments, maintenance, lubrication and electrical testing on substation equipment.
- Must be able to operate/interpret data with a 10kV Megohm meter
- Must be able to operate/interpret data with a Transformer Turns Ratio tester
- Must be able to operate/interpret data with an AC/DC HiPotential test set
- Must be able to operate/interpret data with a Transformer Ohm meter
- Must be able to operate/interpret data with a Power Factor testing unit
- Must be able to operate/interpret data with a Digital Low Resistive Ohm meter
- Must be able to operate/interpret data with transformer oil collecting devices
Schedule:
- Flexible hours due to customer requirements.
