The shift required is Monday - Friday 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM with the ability to work other shifts if needed.
Job Summary: The position will provide recovery support services and assistance to clients in the facility. The position requires the Recovery Support Specialist staff to participate in client care during the client’s stay and continuum of care post-discharge. This position will entail other duties as assigned.
Summary Specific to Job:
Responsibilities as an RSS:
- Keep Client Care a top priority during client stay in the facility to include providing compassion, empathy and respect.
- Provide positive support to all clients during intake, admission, and throughout their stay including discharge
- Monitoring clients at all times while using the language of hope a motivate a client toward change and intervention during intake, admission and discharge.
- Assist in de-escalating individuals during intake and throughout their stay
- Responsible for documenting and securing client property to be returned at discharge
- Help develop and maintain connections in the community and provide referrals as needed
- Focus on a person’s strengths and support the overall health and wellness of a client
- Support client’s decision for treatment and services
- Provide follow-up telephone calls as a continuum of care
- Clean sobering area, bathrooms, break rooms etc.; when necessary participate in doing laundry
- Maintain and submit timely all required documentation of charts associated with RSS responsibilities to including chart audits, census reports and follow up calls.
- Maintain positive communication with all employees in the sobering center and intake department.
- Represent center reflecting a professional image
- Inspect facilities and equipment to ensure safety and sanitation regulations prior each shift.
- Attend all meetings and trainings as requested
- Adapt to changing work requirements along with flexibility of time
- Perform Recovery Support Specialist assignments onsite and offsite to include any additional duties assigned
- Ability to work a varied schedule
Temp Lead Responsibilities if assigned:
- Ensure RSS staff are following proper procedures during client stay in the facility.
- Keep the daily operation of an organization flowing with cohesiveness in a team environment.
- Provides positive support, direction and assistance to Recovery Support Specialist on all areas of their assigned duties to include client complaints or other problems as they arise.
- Discuss issues, concerns and building maintenance with the Recovery Center Shift Supervisor.
- Responsible for assisting with training all new employees on their shift, ensure they understand their assigned duties and follow workplace policies and procedures.
- Attend all meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Maintains effective interpersonal relationships with clients, peers, subordinates, upper management, visitors and general public.
- Must be proficient in every duty to assist in the daily operations of the Sobering Center by providing support, direction and assistance to peers in all areas of their assigned duties.
- Maintains and submit all required documentation including chart audits, census reports and follow up calls in a timely manner.
- Ensure confidentiality, privacy and accuracy when charting and documenting client’s files.
- Assist with addressing upset client using CPI verbal de-escalating skills during intake and throughout their stay
- Responsible for securing client property to be returned at discharge
- Help develop connections in the community and collaborate with clinical team on providing referrals as needed for clients.
- Focus on a person’s strengths and support the overall health, wellness, and decision for treatment and services
- Maintains and submits all required documentation and reports in a timely manner such as documentation and charting of clients files to include follow-up telephone calls.
- Responsible for cleaning the sobering area, bathrooms, break rooms etc.; when necessary and participate in doing laundry
- Able to represent center reflecting a professional image with a positive attitude at all times.
- Adapt to changing work requirements
- Review and enforce all Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and policies.
- The shift leader is responsible for completing and filing all incident reports, accident reports, and reporting all violations of safety and other policies. They must ensure that the company's exposure to risk is minimized by following all safety regulations.
- Update communications log book during each shift
- Complete walkthroughs during shift and at shift change
- Check and audit all charts during shift and at close out
- Perform handwritten closeout, sending number and completing Excel digital closeouts. Check black book in intake for mistakes at the end of shift
- Order lunches for clients and making sure they are fed timely
- Review inventory and order supplies weekly
- Make sure the clipboard is updated and all information is correct
- Make admit and no admit decisions when supervisor is not available using agency admission criteria.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 46 Hours of Recovery Support Specialist Training is required
- Certified as Recovery Support Specialist with VIA Hope Texas Mental Health Resource
- Or Certified with Texas Board of Addition Professionals
- If not certified as a Peer Recovery Support, training is required to be completed within 90 days from date of acknowledgement of job descriptions. Failure to comply will result in noncompliance with your role as a Recovery Support Specialist and could lead to further review of position.
