KinderSmile Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing underserved children and their families with comprehensive dental care and education on the importance of dental hygiene. Established in 2007, the Foundation's mission is to ensure every child has access to a dentist and to eradicate preventable dental diseases, which disproportionately affect economically disadvantaged children.
KinderSmile Foundation operates three Dental Homes in Bloomfield, Newark, and Trenton, New Jersey, serving patients regardless of their insurance status. The Foundation's staff and volunteers are committed to delivering the highest level of care and respect to everyone who walks through their doors.
KinderSmile Oral Health Program (KSOHP) provides off-site oral education and patient care through visits to schools and other community organizations and venues.

Position Summary
This is a full-time, exempt position.
* A part-time 4 day/week option for this position will be considered for the right candidate.
The Dental Home Director is an experienced Dental Provider who provides leadership and supervision to the clinical dental staff at KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center in Trenton.
In partnership with the Director of Operations, the Dental Home Director provides direction to KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center in Trenton including managing the patient schedule and oversight of daily operations.
The Dental Home Director is proficient in all general dentistry procedures and provides high-quality dental treatment and oral health education to adult and pediatric patients.
The Dental Home Director has an affinity for working with children and will participate in off-site visits to schools and other community organizations as part of the KinderSmile Oral Health Program (KSOHP).
This position requires a valid NJ Dentist license, current malpractice liability insurance and BLS or CPR certification. A DEA license and CDS license are preferred.
Wearing clean scrubs is the required attire for this position to ensure a professional and hygienic appearance at all times.
The annual salary range for this position is $156,000-$176,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Location
This Dental Home Director will work mainly on-site at KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center in Trenton and may also work off-site at scheduled school and community visits in Trenton and the surrounding area.
Position Details
The full-time Dental Home Director's schedule will include:
o Clinical
- Mondays 9am-6pm
- Wednesdays 9am-6pm
- Thursdays 9am-5pm
- Fridays 9am-5pm
o Administrative
The Dental Home Director may be scheduled to work off-site on specified days or half-days as part of the KinderSmile Oral Health Program (KSOHP). Off-site visits require flexibility as some may begin earlier than 9am. School visits may follow school day hours.

You are organized and execute the Dental Home Director's administrative duties in a thorough and timely manner.
What You’ll Do:
Responsibilities
Dental Home Director Overview:
o Work in partnership with the Director of Operations to ensure the effective and smooth daily operations of the Dental Home. Provide daily oversight, leadership and management.
o Remain informed and current on all aspects of KinderSmile Foundation' programs. Work closely with the respective program Directors to ensure that all programs are carried out to their full extent.

- Perinatal Health and Wellness Program (PHWP)
- Smile for Seniors Health and Wellness Program
- NJDOH Caries Prevention grant
o Participation in meetings:
- Conduct or assign morning huddles for team building and spirit.
- Together with the Director of Operations, schedule and co-lead monthly staff meetings.
- Hold monthly meetings with the COO to review the progress of the Dental Home.
- Participate in quarterly management/Directors' meetings.
Clinical Duties:
o Comply with KinderSmile procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
o Provide direction, support and supervision to the professional dental staff in the delivery of dental services and full spectrum comprehensive dentistry.
o Treat all patients, their families, and caregivers with respect, dignity, and professionalism.
o Implement KinderSmile's philosophy of quality clinical treatment and oral health education for all patients.
o Provide quality comprehensive quadrant dentistry to all patients in all disciplines of dental care and educate patients on oral hygiene, plaque control and oral disease prevention.
o Point of contact for after-hours emergency calls.
Off-Site Patient Care:
o At off-site visits, deliver oral education and evaluate and provide care to children with appropriate dental treatment.
Insurance:
o Record copious notes in Eaglesoft patient charts, ensuring that patients are 'walked out' and with the use of correct CDT codes.
o Ensure that all insurance claims are submitted daily and corrected as needed.
Administrative Duties
o Responsibility for overall expense management of the Dental Home including the judicious use of equipment and supplies and contacting vendors as needed for equipment repair and to order supplies.
o Maintain and update weekly work schedules including accommodating staff's planned and unplanned absences.
o Ensure proper staffing levels. Participate in the hiring process with HR, the COO and CEO by conducting interviews and making staff recommendations.
o Provide supervision, support and guidance to Dental Home employees including mentoring new Dental Providers, Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants and other staff, performing performance reviews of clinical staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following are the minimum qualifications needed to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Education
- Graduation from a licensed dental school.
Credentials
- Valid NJ Dentist license.
- Current malpractice liability insurance.
- Current BLS or CPR certification.
- Valid DEA and CDS licenses (preferred).
Experience
- Previous experience in a dental office working with patients of all ages.
- Technical Proficiency
- Familiarity with dental software and electronic health records.
Special Working Conditions
· Exposure to infectious agents: Due to the nature of the job, Dental Providers may be exposed to infectious agents such as bacteria and viruses. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential to minimize risk.
· Exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials: Dental Providers may be exposed to various chemicals used in dental procedures and cleaning agents. Proper handling, storage, and disposal of these materials are crucial to ensure safety.
· Physically demanding tasks: Dental Providers may need to stand or sit for long periods, as well as perform repetitive tasks that may require manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
· Fast-paced environment: Dental Providers often work in fast-paced environments and must be able to manage their time effectively to provide optimal patient care.
· Noise exposure: Dental offices can be noisy due to the use of various dental tools and equipment. Dental Providers should be comfortable working in this type of environment.
· Emotional demands: Dental Providers may encounter patients with dental anxiety or other emotional challenges, requiring empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills.
· Continuing education: Dental Providers are often required to participate in continuing education courses to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques, regulations, and industry standards.
Physical Requirement
The physical requirements for a Dental Provider role typically include the ability to stand or sit for extended periods, as the job often involves long hours of working with patients in a dental chair. Dentists must possess fine motor skills and manual dexterity to perform precise, delicate tasks while using various dental tools and instruments. They may also need to bend, reach, and twist in order to access different areas of a patient's mouth, requiring good flexibility and overall physical fitness. Additionally, Dental Providers should have the strength and stamina to assist patients in and out of the dental chair, as well as the ability to move and handle dental equipment as needed. Good vision and hand-eye coordination are essential for performing accurate and effective dental treatments. Dental Providers must also be able to tolerate exposure to various noises from dental equipment and maintain focus in a potentially noisy work environment.
