POSITION TITLE: RN
STATUS: Full Time -Days/Evenings- 1x weekend day every other weekend
FACILITY: CBCF/CASC - Akron Ohio
Pay Rate: $37.50 per hour.
QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse with a valid Ohio License. Two (2) years of nursing experience in substance use disorder and or behavioral health services preferred. Maintains the required licensure/certification in good standing. Must have a favorable attitude regarding the disease concept of addiction. Must have the ability to effectively work with Agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population

- Identifies and prioritizes client care needs using client history and nursing assessment.
- Works within nursing scope of practice.
- Recognizes empathic opportunities and responds clients empathically, communicating a desire to understand.
- Accurately collects and documents client use history.
- Accurately assesses and documents withdrawal symptoms using CIWA and/or COWS and ASAM.
- Provides referrals for additional services that may be needed related to physical or psychological outside of the Agency’s scope
- Provides resources and referrals as part of crisis intervention.
- Administers Naltrexone and Buprenorphine injections at the direction of Nurse Practitioner.
- Administers lab blood draws and coordinates testing of the labs.
- Administers vaccines at the direction of the provider.
- Coordinates ordering and delivery of medications with local and specialty pharmacies.
- Sends and obtains relevant medical records to community agencies and providers for coordination of care for patients.
- Works under the clinical supervision of the Nursing Supervisor and/or Physician/Nurse Practitioner.
- Performs routine nursing procedures such as taking and recording height, weight, measurements, and vital signs.
- Collects urine specimens in accordance with Agency policy and procedures, following chain of custody protocols.
- Transcribes and checks doctor’s orders as assigned.
- Follows the rights of medication administration; observes, records, and reports signs of illness or changes in patient condition and assists provider with physical examination when requested. Reinforces provider’s instructions by checking medication; eating and sleeping habits, and inquiring about additional medical problems. Documents effectiveness of all medication administered in an accurate and timely manner.
- Observes, reports, evaluates and documents thoroughly and accurately clients’ conditions and responses to care in Care Logic ECR. Completes documentation in Care Logic prior to leaving shift in an accurate manner.
- Assesses medical complaints and health emergencies according to policy and procedure guidelines. Triages care appropriately.
- Provides patient education as appropriate to licensure.
- Participates in the development of staff training and presents information on medical issues including, but not limited to: signs and symptoms of substance use disorder, emotional disturbances, universal precautions/standard precautions, disease transmission, medication policy, CPR, and First Aid.
- Accurately counts, records, and maintains a secured storage area for all prescription medications, sharps, syringes, and other medical equipment within unit. Monitors patient compliance in residential areas.
- Maintains accountability of medical equipment, supplies and deliveries.
- Provides direct client care. Recognizes and interprets clients’ conditions and responses to therapy.
- Allows client to actively participate in his/her care planning, as well as maintain his/her rights to make informed decisions.
- Encourages the utilization of positive reinforcement in the treatment of clients and ensures that all clients receive equitable care.
- Confers with Clinicians and treatment agencies to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of clients’ statuses.
- Maintains a current knowledge of behavioral health nursing, including up to date and thorough knowledge of medications used during medically assisted withdrawal.
- Assists in the collection of accurate report data, (e.g., Quality Assurance, Utilization Review, etc.).
- Maintains all areas within unit in a safe and clean condition.
- Continues professional training, stays current with professional developments, and maintains license as well as required certifications.
- Monitors compliance of emergency medical procedures.
- Is familiar with OSHA requirements.
- Provides staffing coverage assistance when Agency need requires
- Performs nursing duties in an outpatient, residential, or correctional residential setting
