Williamson County Information Technology is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Cyber Security Specialist.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development of the audit engagement plan, such as identifying and assessing risk
- Performs audit engagements according to the internal audit methodology with limited supervision
- Run diagnostic tests and analyze data to spot threats to computer systems
- Stay up to date on the newest viruses and malware being used by cybercriminals
- Aid in the development and implementation of best practices that employees can follow to reduce the risk of data theft
- Assists with responding to computer security incidents according to the Information Security Policies and Industry Best Practices.
- Assists with coordinating the efforts of and provides timely updates to multiple business units during response.
- Documents and escalates incidents, including event's history, status, and potential impact for further action, that may cause ongoing and immediate impact to the environment.
- Assists with incident triage, to include, determining scope, urgency, and potential impact; identifying the specific vulnerability; and making recommendations that enable expeditious remediation.
- Provides timely detection, identification, and alerts of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities, and distinguish these incidents and events from benign activities.
Skills:
- Ability to listen actively and ask questions as required to validate understanding
- Ability to identify the appropriate level, timing, and type of communications for different audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Proficiency in threat hunting
- Knowledge of the tools of our adversary and implementing them in an ethical way to improve our security posture.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation
Education
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Information Technology, or related subject, or relevant equivalent experience required.
