JOB SUMMARY:
A Resident Care Tech is a member of the multidisciplinary team, who is directly involved in providing quality care for clients. The RCT is responsible for providing structure and support services for our clients and manages much of the day-to-day of the facility for the clients. A RCT transports clients, helps manage and dispenses medication, redirects and assists clients, and provides overall support to the clinical team. Employees are expected to exercise significant initiative and independent judgment in carrying out their duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY
- Is the eyes and ears of the milieu and obtains relevant information about clients through interview, assessment and case history.
- Assist and support clients through addiction detoxification and recovery.
- Observe, intervene and report client adherence to program goals and objectives.
- Work in conjunction with other department staff to administer scheduled program curriculum and other activities for treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse.
- Process new clients, i.e., intake paperwork, orientation to the rules of facilities and assist clients with daily activities, events and informational literature.
- Under the assistance of the supervisor, provides education to individuals and groups in the community and facilitates group presentations and workshops.
- Transport clients to appointments and other service locations outside of the assigned program.
- manage and dispenses medication under the supervision of the nurse.
- Document behavioral incidents through observation of clients.
- Maintain confidential records in the EHR/EMR software.
- Inform the assigned supervisor of any changes, adjustments or complications with department protocols.
- Receive guidance and training from Operations Director – Lead staff within the division.
- Redirects and intervenes in client situations and crises.
- Documents all notes, shift reports, rounds in the clinical EHR/EMR charting software.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required (i.e. conducts drug testing).
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience working in a substance abuse field, healthcare, emergency management, or related field is a plus.
- Knowledge of operations and activities of an addiction treatment program.
- Knowledge of alcohol and substance abuse theory and treatment; knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with administration, subordinates and the general public.
- Ability to analyze situations in a rational, mature and confident manner and to remain calm under stressful situations.
- Ability to utilize discretion and independent judgment; ability to maintain confidentiality of client records at all times.
- Skilled in the use of computers to generate reports and maintain records.
- Possess sufficient oral and written communication skills and the ability to write reports.
- Ability to maintain strong boundaries both professional and personal.
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
