Do you want to help pets from under-served communities? Do you want to reduce the amount of time spent in direct contact with clients? Do you have a passion for surgery and have confidence on your current skill or know you can develop great surgical skills?
The Spay-Neuter Assistance Program and wellness clinic (SNAP) can be the place for you!
SNAP is a high volume, quality and safety spay/neuter clinic and wellness clinic that has been serving the Houston greater area for over 25 years. We focus on spay/neuter, preventative care, and community education. We refer sick pets to full service veterinary clinics so that we can focus on prevention. Our goal is to reduce overpopulation and burden on shelters in order to reduce shelter euthanasia rates. We aim to provide the highest possible level of preventative care within the financial constraints of our clients.
We are proud to serve the general public as well as various municipal shelters and private rescue groups. We coordinate with other area programs to provide our clients with additional funding sources when possible, and we utilize grant funding to subsidize services for income-qualifying clients. SNAP is proud to be a part of several community-collaborative teams, as we believe that no group can successfully combat overpopulation alone.
We have two clinics in the Houston area, one inside the 610 loop near the Heights, and another in Pasadena. We also have a clinic in San Antonio.
Our internal working focus is on a positive workplace, collaboration, and veterinarian-driven medicine with technician/driven support! We train our teams to be effective at the skills they are legally allowed to do. Freeing up the Veterinarian, for the most part; to do Veterinarian work. We consider our veterinarians to be leaders of our team, sharing their knowledge and expertise both with our support staff and our clients. We have established protocols to ensure the safety of our patients which are always open to review by the veterinarian team, and we strive to keep up to date with current literature and guidelines. We utilize computerize record keeping with VERY MINIMAL TIME REQUIRED TO COMPLETE RECORDS. All surgery notes are completed by our great team of technician and assistants with the use of templets.
We are currently seeking Full-time and Part-time Veterinarians with high interest in high volume surgery. Some wellness shifts might be required. We perform: spay, neuter, pyometra, pregnant spays, cryptorchid sx and in some cases some additional miscellaneous surgeries on case by case basis. Veterinarians for this position need to be able to work from either of our locations in the Houston/Pasadena area.
Schedules are Monday – Friday 4 days per week and about 32 hr/work week. We are closed all major Holidays. We value mental health and work - life balance for our Veterinarians and team alike.
SNAP is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization, and as such does qualify for most service-based loan forgiveness programs. “Did you know that PLSF, administered by the U.S. government, forgives the remaining debt on eligible loans for borrowers who have worked at least 10 years in the non profit sector such as SNAP?”
