The Quincy Institute (QI) is seeking a reporter with a high degree of motivation and initiative for its online magazine, Responsible Statecraft.
Key responsibilities include providing original reporting with a focus on Responsible Statecraft’s mission of promoting a positive, transpartisan vision of U.S. foreign policy based on military restraint, humility, and diplomatic engagement. Our reporter will ask the tough questions, critiquing the ideas — and the ideologies and interests behind them — that have mired the United States in counterproductive and endless wars, and have made America and the world less secure. The reporter will work closely with RS’s editorial team to explore unique ways in which RS can expose corruption and hypocrisy in the military industrial complex, and showcase the people, politics, and policies that are promoting reform and going against the foreign policy status quo. The reporter will write about the issues that are important to Americans outside the Beltway, too, including military families and veterans, communities affected by the weapons industry, and the environmental impacts of war and of military and base pollution.
Candidates must be dedicated to advancing the mission, vision, and principles of military restraint, and committed to transpartisanship, journalistic integrity, and professionalism. The person selected for this position will report to the Editorial Director and the Managing Editor of Responsible Statecraft.
This is a paid, full-time position, based in Washington, DC. The Quincy Institute offers comprehensive medical and dental benefits, a 401k savings plan, and other benefits, as well as professional development and a friendly and dynamic working environment.
Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter, and two published writing samples.
