In this role, you’ll:

Provide broad range of administrative and technical support to NDC Managers and all facility staff.

Responsible for one of three lead oversight specializations of either Apheresis, Equipment monitoring and repair or Projects. Assignment of one specialization does not preclude involvement in another area of specialization.

Monitor and report on neighborhood donor center performance metrics with specific focus on QNS, automation and error rates and work with department management and peers to address operational deficiencies. Participate in the development and validation of SOPs and ensure regulatory and SOP compliance with all aspects of facility operations.

In conjunction with Zone Manager, manages facility teams to ensure all quality goals are met and to implement operational changes to maximize center efficiency and quality.

Develop and maintain professional development programs for apheresis staff and conduct staff in-services and training as needed.

Make donor eligibility determinations when unusual donor medication, medical condition and travel answers are encountered by NDC collections staff. Operations Coordinators will work with Medical Services, staff or directly with donors to determine donor eligibility.

Perform neighborhood donor center assessments and ensure timely completion of applicable corrective actions.

Lead liaison for internal and external audits and inspections including, but not limited to, QA, FDA, AABB, LFB, EU, Korean Green Cross.

Research and evaluate equipment and processes and assist with validation of same.

Act as back-up Zone Manager, NDC Manager or staff as needed.

Initiate counseling of staff on performance problems; coordinate with staff’s Manager to assure that appropriate action is taken.

Provide backup functions for NDC inventories and critical supplies,

Training of all employees for RBC Loss application, Vista Level 5 Access, and NDC specific Trackwise use.

Create and send weekly status reports to Zone Manager on facility visits, error rates and investigations, observations of staff, equipment logs, project updates, safety matters, etc.

Supports completion of new NDC employee and/or Facility Manager(s) onboarding programs

Assure NDC staff maintain the facility in a neat and clean condition suitable for donors, volunteers, visitors, and media at all times. Ensure all equipment is kept in good working order and repaired in a timely fashion.

Monitor daily collections and ensure collection team is aware of day-to-day specific collection needs for Product Management hospital requests. Update donor collection software based on real-time collection performance throughout the collection day.

Oversees NDC quality system activities such as root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and process improvement development.

Performs NDC site visits 2-3 times per week to observe NDC Operations, discuss metrics and provide coaching for improvement.

Provides Lead Competency Assessor function for annual competency assessment programs.

Assist with promotional events and activities.

Deliver supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous items to NDCs as needed.

Perform backup functions for employee time sheet reviews and entries for payroll system.

We need someone who has:

High School Diploma or GED
- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred

Minimum three (3) years’ experience required as a supervisor in blood banking environment including phlebotomy and apheresis skills, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include working in a position involving frequent interaction with the public and the use of customer service skills.

Certificate of Phlebotomy desirable.

EMT Certification or licenses in a related field a plus.

Valid Texas Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and blood and/or blood components, as well as any other biohazard materials. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Job duties involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood with a risk of exposure to Hepatitis and HIV.
