As the career adviser, you are responsible for hosting one-on-one career advising sessions with students and alumni, advising them on career preparation, portfolio development, and professional development. In this position you will be expected to manage database information, reply to requested reporting in a timely manner, consult with students on major/minor decision-making matters, and provide training/professional development opportunities to them. Responsibilities include planning and executing events/activities to encourage major selection and applying to graduate schools; collaborating with internal teams to plan annual events and informational programs; developing internship and employment opportunities; and planning and executing numerous campus-wide career development seminars, workshops, and presentations. This role requires you to act as a liaison to industry professionals while working on special projects to enhance students’ professional experiences and opportunities.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate an awareness of students and alumni who may require evaluation for a special need or circumstance. They must be comfortable building industry relationships with businesses, coordinating and collaborating with the academic departments and with students/alumni to schedule the employer's contact, and visiting siting with local businesses to develop and strengthen relationships. Additionally, they should be enthusiastic higher education and/or design professionals with positive communication skills, advanced levels of proficiency, and the desire to contribute to SCAD student and alumni creative career successes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Professional experience in career advising, recruitment, or related field
- Working knowledge of the career development process
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Comprehensive knowledge of advising populations and associated markets/industries

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
