Responsibilities:
- Prepare sushi dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in sushi preparation
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and labeling of ingredients
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food service
- Assist in menu planning and development of new sushi dishes
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for ingredients as needed
Skills:
- Proficient knife skills for precise cutting and slicing of fish and other ingredients
- Experience in food service, preferably in a sushi or Japanese restaurant setting
- Strong meal preparation skills, including knowledge of various sushi rolls and techniques
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food industry trends and ability to create innovative sushi dishes
- Excellent food handling skills to ensure safety and prevent cross-contamination
- Previous experience as a dietary aide or kitchen helper is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
