- Will perform radiation therapy duties and procedures as staffing and workload dictates.
- Collaborates with Physicians, Physicists, Dosimetrists, Nursing, and support staff to plan and implement corrective actions in order to improve treatment delivery standards.
- Serve as the staff and patient advocate to ensure optimal patient care
- Ordering of supplies and equipment.
- Displays effective leadership and supervisory capabilities.
- Assist staff in identifying and solving problems within the clinic.
- Coordinates timely requisition, receipt, care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Maintain clinical competencies for assigned clinical area and provide treatment as needed
- Maintain required unit records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes; ensure compliance with established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control
- Assist with training new staff members and provide the link between therapists and administration .
- Supports and encourages open and honest staff participation in the decision-making process and conflict resolution.
- Performs audits to ensure accuracy in coding and billing practices.
- Ensures accurate and timely reporting of equipment malfunctions, treatment errors, equipment damage, and radiation safety violations to the appropriate resource.
- Engages in research, education, patient advocacy, and administrative activities
- Supports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of the human anatomy and proper positioning of the patient to provide treatment as prescribed.
- Working knowledge of procedures employed with Radiation Hazards, Material Safety Data Sheets and their application
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with patients, physicians, technologists, support personnel and other employees
- Knowledge in principles, practices and procedures involved in the operation of ionizing radiographic and radiation therapy equipment.
- Good phone skills; Excellent Customer Service
- Organized; sets priorities, and able to multi-task
Certifications/Licensure: NYS licensure as a Radiation Therapy Technologist, ARRT certification.
