Fluor is seeking a licensed HVAC Technician to perform general maintenance (preventive maintenance and/or repair) on all site heating and cooling equipment in an industrial environment. Tech will verify correct operation of equipment related to cooling, heating and humidity control, and troubleshoot and repair site heating and cooling units. Regular work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
NO PER DIEM, local hires only (Hopewell/Chester, VA area)
Duties include the following:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair of air conditioning and heating units.
- Ensure temperature and humidity controls are working properly.
- Troubleshoot problems related to cooling/heating and humidity problems.
- Perform other general maintenance-related duties.
- Work overtime (both scheduled and emergency), after hours (early morning or late night), weekends and holidays as required.
- Perform routine required filter changes.
- Comply with all Fluor safety requirements and programs.
- Work site safety policy requires that all personnel be clean shaven (no beard).
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum four years of experience required in: site facilities electrical maintenance, HVAC units, or equivalent mechanical experience.
- Must have knowledge of chilled water and steam coil HVAC units.
- Basic communications and electrical/electronic knowledge required.
- Must have knowledge and training in electrical hazards, Lockout/Tagout and basic electrical safety.
- Must have experience working with low voltage AC (600 VAC Nominal or less) and associated low voltage AC and DC control circuits.
- Must have knowledge and ability to work with hazardous chemicals.
- Must possess ability to work in “High Pressure” situations on related equipment effectively and safely.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Must have EPA Type 608 License, Certified for Universal Refrigerant Recovery (for servicing all types of equipment)
- Must have State Journeyman HVAC license or verified equivalent, as follows:
- Four (4) years practical experience in HVAC and 240 hrs. formal vocational training in the trade;
- Or, Five (5) years practical experience in HVAC and 160 hrs. formal vocational training in the trade;
- Or, Six (6) years practical experience in HVAC and 80 hrs. of formal vocational training in the trade;
- Or, Seven (7) plus years practical experience in HVAC and 40 hrs. of formal vocational training in the trade;
- Or, Associates degree or certification of completion from two-year program in HVAC related field from an accredited community college or tech school and two years of practical experience in HVAC;
- Or, Bachelor’s degree from accredited college in an engineering curriculum related to HVAC and one-year practical experience in HVAC;
- Or, Ten (10) years of practical experience in HVAC as verified by previous employers who have observed the applicant’s work in the trade.
