Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
The core responsibilities of Lincoln Charter School’s Reading Specialist are detailed below:
Provide individualized reading assessment and research based instruction to students in grades K-4 or 5-8 respectively. This is accomplished by “pushing into” the classroom working with individual or small groups of students, or “pulling out” students who would benefit from individualized instruction
- Administer, facilitate and support schoolwide screening assessments and assist in disaggregating data to inform MTSS program
- Use testing data and other information to create targeted learning plans for students
- Continuously progress monitor student growth through resource aligned tools and assessments
- Maintain student portfolios with all progress monitoring assessments and pertinent growth data
- Facilitate and support regular data and MTSS meetings that are grounded in student data and researched based interventions
- Support classroom teachers with training, resources and strategies to implement rigorous and differentiated ELA instruction
- Facilitate and maintain appropriate communication with students, families, staff with regard to student progress.
- Supervise inventory of resources materials, manipulatives, and other reading materials
- Have significant competency in integrating technology into instruction.
- Lead and support in coordinating literacy celebrations, annual book fairs, literacy based family nights and spelling bee
- Participate in school events.
- Participate in all professional development activities assigned by LCS

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Masters preferred.
- PA Reading Specialist Certification Required
- Knowledge of Wilson Reading System; WRCS Certification Preferred.
- At least five years’ experience teaching ELA to elementary and/or middle school students
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, planning and implementation skills
- Excellent follow-through, ability to meet deadlines, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Successfully work as a team player and pitch in when needed while maintaining a positive, professional, and goal-oriented attitude
- Openness to feedback
- Ability to perform the above responsibilities at a high level.
- Demonstrate a firm understanding of MTSS, ELA Standards, phonics, competencies and best practices to teach and learn how to read.
- Be fluent in GSuite and instructional technologies
- Be bilingual -Spanish/English (Preferred)
- Complete ACT 34 Clearances, ACT 151 Clearances, and FBI Clearance
- Complete Act 126 & Act 71 Certifications
