Open Position: Preschool Lead Teacher
A preschool teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention.
The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.
Preschool Lead Teacher Qualifications:
♦ Meet and maintain basic requirements of Michigan child care regulatory agency.

♦ Ability to relate positively with young children, and adults.
♦ Prefer, but not mandatory, previous teaching or assistant teaching position in an early learning center, high quality preschool, child care center or church nursery.
♦ Prefer, but not mandatory, CDA, associate or higher level degree related to early childhood, preschool, family sciences or elementary education.
♦ Knowledge of children's development including the social and emotional needs. Experience with HighScope curriculum preferred.
♦ Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
Responsibilities:
♦ Responsible for the overall daily supervision and care of the children.
♦ Assess each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
♦ Plan and implement the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule using our research based curriculum outline and materials.
♦ Conduct parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.
♦ Provide an attractive, safe, and clean classroom that encourages creativity and exploration.
♦ Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
♦ Assists and coordinates snacks, meals, nap time and bathroom activities.
♦ Maintain professional attitude and work behavior.
♦ Attend all required staff meetings and/or school functions as determined by the Director.
Full Time position Monday-Thursday 8-5 Friday 8-2
Part Time position Monday-Friday 7:30-1:30
