OklaHome Homebuilders is a 100% custom homebuilding company based in Edmond, OK. We are a small family-run company ready for a Construction Manager to be in charge of 5-10 custom builds and remodels at a time as well as manage a Construction Superintendant and Home Designer. Driving within 2 hours outside of the metro most days required. Truck and gas provided. We offer full-service custom building to our clients from in-house Architectural design (we've never built the same home twice) to custom electric, cabinet, selections walk-throughs during the construction stage. Our homes are the opposite of cookie-cutter. This person would enter the scene running a pre-construction meeting once plans and contract have been completed, work directly with the Architect and Designer through the entire build process and coordinate walk-throughs with clients and contractors. Manage Home Designer to order selections and keep change orders organized providing weekly updated budget reports to clients. Our homes are built on a transparent cost-plus basis. This role would report to the Owner/Builder who has been doing high-end remodels and home builds for over 20 years and has a great relationship with city officials, contractors and banks in the area. Our homes typically range from $800k-$2.5m and often win multiple awards in the Parade of Homes. You'll have tremendous job satisfaction knowing that you built a family's dream home. Professional but relatable demeanor is important as you'll have direct communication with clients and will get to know them well.
This person will need to be able to think on their feet, be resourceful, figure out problems on their own but also take instruction well. Flexibility is important but so is high quality standard. A Construction Management degree is preferred but not required if experience is strong. A tough skin is necessary with the ability to deal with difficult personality types and to be firm and organized, calm and cool-headed.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Project Management:** Oversee all phases of the homebuilding process from initial planning at pre-construction meeting to completion, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Also keeping track of charges and invoices to build weekly updated budget reports for clients. We do have an in-house Architect, Accounting Office Manager and Home Designer.
- **Team Leadership:** Supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors, suppliers, and construction crews. Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- **Quality Control:** Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Conduct regular site inspections and address any issues promptly. Be familiar with local and state codes and permit requirements.
- **Client Communication:** Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the construction process. Provide regular updates on construction progress and budget, address concerns, and ensure a positive client experience. Get to know our clients and their families well. This is their dream home and they like to be very involved.
- **Budget Management:** Prepare and manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective construction practices.
- **Scheduling:** Develop and maintain construction schedules, coordinating timelines and activities to ensure timely project completion.
- **Problem Solving:** Identify potential issues and develop proactive solutions to mitigate delays and cost overruns. Discuss solutions with our team and help other team members problem solve as well.
- **Documentation:** Maintain accurate records of construction activities, including daily logs, change orders, and project reports. Have a systems and processes mindset. Help organize programs to make communication easier and projects stay on track.
**Qualifications:**
- **Experience:** Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential construction management, preferably in custom homebuilding.
- **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- **Skills:**
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural drawings.
- Ability to travel up to 3 hours from Edmond, OK to job sites. Company truck, tools, gas will be provided.
