The Recovery Center at Sarpy is a 16-bed facility serving residents 19+ who have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness, and are currently experiencing mental-health-related difficulties.
Shift Available:
Part Time; AM Shift; Days vary as needed
Starting at $23 Hourly commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements. Depending on what shifts you are asked to work: Shift differentials for hourly staff (6% for PM Shift, 10% for Overnight Shift). Weekend Shift differentials for hourly staff (5% for Weekend AM Shift, 11% for Weekend PM Shift, 15% for Weekend Overnight Shift)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) is primarily responsible for providing group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, and case management services to members served. In addition, this individual may be called on to meet the psychosocial needs of members served through discharge planning in a manner consistent with Rehabilitation and Recovery principles. Using the unique perspective of social work, this position provides general casework services to assigned members served and their families as needed. This involves coordinating and collaborating with other services and agencies such as the State and County Mental Health Services, Public Defender’s Office, and Probation Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with internal and external stakeholders
- Provides safe, effective, and efficient implementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care
- Demonstrates knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques such as CPI
- Attends and participates in the Clinical Reform Team Meeting in the absence of the Clinical Director
- Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with members served and acts as a role model in maintaining a hopeful and positive attitude in problem-solving and coping with the disabilities associated with mental illness
- Attends and participates in primary therapy, community meetings, family therapy, and groups and activities as needed
- Assists in discharge planning, including:
o Assessing the members served readiness for discharge in coordination with the Recovery Team
o Making appropriate referrals for living environments, case management, and aftercare services, as indicated by desires of members served
o Coordinating with appropriate staff and agencies to assure that benefits and finances of members served are in order
o Developing and maintaining an awareness of community resources
- Assures that members served know and understand their legal status and rights; tracks legal status on all members served
- Provides direct treatment to members served and families as needed
- Actively participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning meetings
- Provides leadership in facilitating the team process
- Provides education/training to other team members as necessary
- Observes, records, and reports members served physical condition, as well as social and psychiatric behaviors
- Completes the Biopsychosocial Assessment for assigned members served, including obtaining necessary data regarding the social and psychological history of the members served
- Must assist with holds of members served in the event of assaultive behavior and pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- One (1) year of post graduate direct service experience with severely or persistently mentally ill adults in an inpatient or outpatient setting
- Master’s degree in Social Work or in Counseling from an accredited graduate school, by the State of Nebraska and a valid Nebraska Driver’s License
- Currently licensed in Psychology, LIMHP, APRN, LMHP/LADC in the state of operation in good standing
- Belief in individual’s ability to recover from disabling mental illness
- Knowledge of basic psychiatric rehabilitation interventions
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment
- All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. SKILLS
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, a thorough understanding of the rights of members served, an understanding of Nebraska’s involuntary treatment process, and knowledge of basic psychiatric terminology
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, squat, kneel, twist, push, pull and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently walk, stand, bend, reach and do simple and power grasping. The position requires manual deviation, repetition and dexterity as well as Hazardous Exposure (Blood Borne Pathogens, Hospital Waste, Chemical & Infectious).
