Gene Codes Corp [Gene Codes], based in Ann Arbor, MI, is looking for a qualified candidate to take on the role of Marketing Manager. For over 30 years, Gene Codes has been a leading innovator and developer of software tools for scientists working in a wide range of applications in molecular biology, from DNA sequence analysis to forensic human identification.
This is an exciting opportunity to drive product introduction and re-introduction, spur growth in established product lines, define and prioritize new areas for product development, and promote ongoing maintenance and upgrades for recurring revenue in our large installed base of clients. You will have an opportunity to contribute to the Gene Codes brand, both strategically and tactically, using your knowledge of both the science and the market we serve.
Key Responsibilities
· Be supportive of the company, your teammates and our clients. Gene Codes values team players.
· Define and manage worldwide marketing efforts, including digital, collateral, tradeshow, and both earned and paid publication strategies.
· Align messaging and marketing materials across different products.
· Analyze market research and various data sources to develop and implement innovative and competitive strategies for Gene Codes software and services.
· Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and existing customers to support the development of tools that address identifiable needs of our clients.
· Lead graphic artists, web developers, and our internal IT team to realize creative marketing campaigns.
· Cultivate reciprocal customer relationships and strategic partnerships to maximize customer reach and engagement.
· Participate in the sales process to gauge the effectiveness and appropriateness of marketing campaigns and approaches.
· Develop and maintain a data collection strategy that tracks the success of our initiatives.
· Assist the CEO in developing specific messaging for domestic and international marketing to governments and government agencies.
Qualifications
· University degree, preferably in business, science, or related field.
· 3+ years of progressive marketing or marketing management experience in the life sciences or software.
· At least 2 years of sales or sales management experience. Marketing feeds sales and even the most dazzlingmarketing materials are only as valuable as the leads that they bring to our sales team.
· Biological Sciences/Bioinformatics/DNA analysis background or closely related field (experience with DNA sequencing technology and/or applications is an asset).
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
· Proven track record of achieving results through the application of marketing principles including customer centricity, strategic analysis, opportunity identification and solution design.
· Strong ability to prioritize projects, manage multiple deadlines simultaneously to meet objectives in an agile environment.
Computer Skills
Proficiency with general office productivity tools on both Macintosh and Windows platforms preferred.
Experience with Salesforce.com and its marketing tools and reports preferred, but can be learned on the job.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability and willingness to travel, as both domestic and international travel may be required.
Other Qualifications
Familiarity with our products or those of competitors, including Sequencher® and M-FISys®, will be helpful, but is not required.
Foreign language skills may be helpful, but is not required.
