Responsibilities:
Talbott Recovery Campus in Atlanta offers a comprehensive range of services that address substance abuse and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. Every patient receives unique, individualized treatment that best fits their needs.
We are currently hiring a Patient Account Representative responsible for collecting, posting and managing patient account payments. Must have at least one year experience in Medical Billing/Collections
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Verifies insurance benefits and changes in benefits both in and out of network
Ensures accuracy of all accounts, charges, payments and adjustments
Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper
Prepares adjustment and refund requests and submits to Business Office Manager for approval
Enters notes in billing and collection software for all activity on patient accounts including benefit verification, billing, payments, adjustments and refunds
Works with Utilization Review on patient accounts to ensure proper collection on al certified days and notifies UR of any patient certification problems.
Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies
Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints
Prepares, reviews and sends patient statements
Evaluates patient’s financial status and establishes budget payment plans. Follows up on and reports status of delinquent accounts
Reviews accounts for possible assignment and makes recommendations to the Business Office Manager
Prepares information for bad debt approval
Performs various collection actions including contacting patients and insurance companies by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers
Works a minimum of 30 accounts per day
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this positoin has a minimum of one year collections experience working with In Network insurance benefits
Ability to inspire client confidence in the Talbott Recovery Staff and the Talbott Recovery Model of Treatment.
Ability to consistently demonstrate through conduct and communications the stability required to effectively assist patients and their family members through the Talbott Recovery Model of Treatment.
Must have high level of interpersonal skills. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
High school diploma is required as well as a minimum two years' experience in a similar healthcare Business Office role.
