Overview:
The shop manager is responsible for developing business through insurance adjusters, customers, and other sources to assure an adequate sales volume, and control department expenses. He/She directs and schedules the activities of all employees at the body shop, and ensures optimal productivity levels through proper personnel management.
Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs and schedules the activities of all department staff, coordinates work flow, and effectively manages the collision department to maximize efficiency.
- Trains new employees, establishes goals/objectives for the collision department, and strives to meet them.
- Reviews technician productivity reports and all corresponding pay sheets for repair jobs.
- Helps conduct annual performance reviews, and provides additional support as needed through informal reviews periodically.
- Sets standards of behavior as outlined in company policies, and ensures employees adhere to established code of conduct.
- Holds meeting with employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest.
- Ensures employee compliance with all OSHA safety rules and other relevant labor laws as required by the safety director.
- Meets with the HR manager periodically to address personnel issues, etc. as required.
- Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with insurance adjusters/appraisers, and obtains approval on all estimates.
- Breaks down estimates into labor and parts before the job is started so that repair technicians are aware of time allowances.
- Checks the quality of all completed jobs regularly, and promptly handles all incoming customer complaints.
- Accounts for all financial documents, ensures that they are all entered correctly, and files or sends documents to the appropriate individual.
- Prepares final billing for all completed repair jobs, completes insurance forms indicating repair costs, and collects account receivables.
- Budgets all controllable expense factors to keep the department efficient as necessary, and approves adjustment on repair estimates.
- Examines vehicles to determine the degree of structural and mechanical damages, as well as damages to the bodywork and the insides of the vehicles.
- Checks how work on the vehicles in the shop is progressing, and ensures that guidelines concerning repairs and safety are observed at all times.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationship with customers to encourage repeated referrals and business.
- Enforces guidelines based on our company’s pledge to provide the very best of experiences to all our customers.
- Handles customer complaints immediately, answers phone calls, and expedite critical parts to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Keeps abreast of available equipment, ensures proper use, and recommends additional purchases as needed.
- Ensures that all accident and injuries sustained by employees during the course of their job are reported immediately.

Requirements & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in an auto body repair facility.
- Proper training as an estimator required.
- Working knowledge of body repair methods is a must.
- Ability to coordinate activities in a production shop is required.
- Professional appearance required (maintain business casual appearance at minimum).
Skills Required:
- Excellent computer skills.

- Salaried – Negotiable
