Requirements
We are searching for a candidate with:
- 5-10 years’ experience at Category/ Commodity Manager or above level in Procurement leadership at an Industrial, Home Building or Engineered products manufacturing company, preferably with commodities, metals, plastics responsibilities
- Extensive raw material (metals, plastics, PVC etc.) strategic sourcing experience
- Skilled negotiator with fluency in contracts and pricing issues
- “Academy company” (e.g., Dell, GE, Honeywell etc.) work experience; management consulting experience, in addition to industry experience, a plus
- Highly results oriented & focused on business priorities, with a successful record of accomplishments.
- Demonstrated effective analytical and problem resolution skills.
- Excellent supplier relationship management skills, along with the ability to manage large complex teams.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments concurrently, including ability to assess and manage priorities.
- Effective interpersonal and communications skills, particularly the ability to communicate technical expertise and lead multi-discipline teams.
- Self-starter with analytical skills, able to identify problems and/or opportunities for improvement, assesses viable solutions, and develops and executes complex projects and comprehensive action plans.
- Be able to travel approximately 25% or as required to plants and suppliers.
- Proficient in computer software programs for business, such as Microsoft Office Suite & Lotus Notes, and relevant supply chain software, such as Oracle, SAP, and ERP software
Duties and Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Focus commodities for this role are Steel, Aluminum, Copper, Paint, and service center operations – experience in these areas preferred.
- Establish spend visibility to clearly define commodity spend baselines, current suppliers, and track go-forward impact.
- Manage suppliers and drive quarterly business reviews with key suppliers.
- Develop & execute sourcing strategies to include competitive bidding, volume aggregation, low-cost country sourcing, eAuctions, should-cost models, raw material indexed contracts, “preferred supplier” programs, and identification of new suppliers.
- Develop category strategies through cross-functional alignment with sales, product management, operations, and finance with final approval from the Executive Leadership Team (ELT)
- Interface with Finance to link Sourcing savings with budget.
- Identify, develop, and establish quality global and regional suppliers for commodities, including castings, controls, valves, fabrications, forgings, finished parts and composites.
- Drive and promote global sourcing leadership by influencing business teams and multiple stakeholders. Collaborate with Sales, Operations and R&D in Sourcing strategy development & execution to maximize cost reduction benefits while maintaining or improving customer service and quality.
- Establish, distribute, and maintain OMNIMAX’s preferred supplier list. Manage and direct global procurement and planning activities using a valid process to select suppliers. Provide real time, relevant market, and benchmark data to support sourcing decisions.
- Partner with major site procurement leaders to analyze inventories and determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, and optimize customer service.
- Participate in coordinating engineering changes, product line extensions and new product launches to ensure orderly transitions in materials and product flow.
- Ensure compliance with OMNIMAX policies when negotiating prices and terms with suppliers.
- Implement and conduct supplier performance management to share performance results, obtain supplier input, collaboratively analyze OMNIMAX & supplier feedback, develop shared solutions, implement new or improved processes, and discuss production changes.
- Develop effective direct and cross-functional teams.
- Enhance team and individual capabilities, including negotiations, contracting & other training.
- Establish rigorous internal performance management, including team & individual-level targets, scorecards, and monthly tracking.
- Deploy appropriate processes to enable world-class Procurement capabilities.
- Establish a clear and achievable roadmap and execute the plan by directly leading the commodity team and strongly influencing the Divisions/ Regions within the organization.
