The Center for Advanced Rehab at Parkside is seeking a Chef to join our dietary team. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of Chef experience in a skilled nursing facility environment and be a strong leader and customer service focused.
Position Summary
The Cook will prepare, serve, and handle food in accordance with federal and state regulations and the dietary program implemented. The Cook will maintain clean and sanitized dining service areas and assist in the receiving, rotation, and storage of products.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Certificate in food preparations training preferred.
- Minimum of two-years dietary experience as Chef in assisted living facility preferred.
- SERV Safe Certification preferred
- Ability to interact and build relationships with older adults.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Requires satisfactory completion of drug, background, and medical screening.
- Must be able recognize and handle emergency situations
Primary Responsibilities:
- Providing our Residents with superior restaurant-quality meals and desserts
- Active role in the creation, preparation, and presentation of residents’ meals
- Identify and report food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus.
- Assist in the receiving, rotation, and storage of products.
- Prepare menus and cook food in accordance with nutritional guidelines, local health department regulations, and resident’s individual prescribed diet and food preferences.
- Ensure that food is delivered on time and in an appetizing and attractive manner.
- Visit with residents at each meal when available and ensure quality service.
- Prepare food and coordinate food service for special events as requested.
- Notify Food Service Director of any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliances.
- Lead by example, encourage teamwork, promote residence philosophy, and provide ongoing coaching to employees.
Regulatory Compliance and Sanitation
- Ensure compliance with local health department regulations and the facility policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food in accordance with infection control standards.
Knowledge Requirements

- Complete continuing education units (CEU) as required by state guidelines.
- Maintain CPR & First Aid certification.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
