PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hiring pay for this position is $17.00/hour.

This is classified as VHNE (Variable Hour Non-Benefit Employee), where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act
Position Description
The City of Aurora is seeking a Custodial Maintenance Worker to maintain the cleanliness of the Recreation facility for its Recreation division of the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department. The Recreation division provides fun recreational programs and facilities for all ages aimed at improving the overall physical and mental health of Aurora's citizens.
This position will work approximately 8 hours per week (2 hours per day Monday through Thursday).
The City of Aurora will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first come-first serve basis. As soon as we determine to have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may close quickly and without notice.
Responsible for the overall cleanliness and sanitation of interior and exterior of the Village Green Center
Perform a variety of routine cleaning tasks of a multi-level/multi room building and understands occupational hazards and safety precautions
General knowledge of custodial procedures, building systems, and the ability to perform minor repairs
Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
Gather and empty trash
Service, clean, and supply restrooms
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
Steam-clean or shampoo carpets
Clear debris from grounds
Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals
Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to
prevent damage to floors and fixtures
Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks
Storeroom upkeep and organization
Maintenance and upkeep of equipment and supplies
Basic record keeping methods, and ability to read directions, chemical labels, and work documents
Take initiative to improve the building quality by meeting the needs and expectations of the Village Green users and patrons, as well as the entire Village Green staff
Provide outstanding customer service and get along with coworkers, patrons, and supervisors
Concentrate and accomplish tasks despite interruptions, perform a variety of tasks simultaneously or in rapid succession, and perform job responsibilities in a timely manner to meet scheduled deadlines
Monitor building security and safety following set guidelines and procedures
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
Perform other duties as assigned
