,School Nurse-
· Participates in the implementation of goals established by the School Nurse Leader.
·· Promotes and maintains optimal physical and emotional health of students.
· Observes students on a regular basis to assess and detect individual health needs.
· Provide first aid and emergency care in injury or illness to school population as documented in “First Aid-Standing Orders.”
· Notify parents of illness and accidents, which occur during school hours and fill out appropriate incident forms.
· Monitor safety in school building and outdoors when applicable.
· Provides Universal Precautions instruction and reinforcement to students and staff.
· Complete a medical needs list of students in the building and supply copies to appropriate personnel i.e. administration, physical education and appropriate teaching staff.
· Keep daily log of students seen in health room.
· Maintain health records and document pertinent information.
· Supervise and administer prescribed medication and treatment during school hours.
· Monitor and perform appropriate procedures on students needing medical attention. (i.e. catheterization, g-tube access for fluid administration).
· Inform teachers and staff regarding medical issues that may affect them.
· Collaborates and reports to school personnel, administration, physicians, and agencies to ensure consistent communication and implementation of student health needs in a timely and appropriate manner.
· Act as a health resource person, have knowledge of community resources, and appropriate referrals.
· Maintain Nurse’s Office and assigned equipment and supplies.
· Counsel students and supervise treatments of individuals with specific health needs (i.e. child neglect and abuse, drug use and abuse).
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Applicant must possess a current, valid LPN/RN License issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing
· Current CPR certification
· Applicant must have 1 year of experience.
· Salary based on experience and credentials.
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Start date: December 1, 2023
