WELDER/FITTER – JOB SHOP
MAJESTIC MACHINE in Baldwin, FLhas an exciting opportunity for a full-time Welder to join our team. This candidate will report to the Shop Foreman and have good knowledge of the method and standard practices of the welding trade, various materials and alloys. We offer a wide range of services from reverse engineering and manufacturing of component parts to turn-key turbine generator overhauls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform welding and fabrication of metal alloys and to maintain, repair, design and construct specialized devices, parts and structures.
- Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a Welding Procedure Spec #.
- Use plans, diagrams, blueprint, and work requests to determine project design; works with requester to ensure needs are met.
- Fabricate equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
- Determine metals needed, welding methods, and all particulars of requested jobs; heats and tempers metals.
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
- Selects torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material.
- Effectively layout designs, supervise workers, and distribute workload to maximize productivity.
- Prepare, clean or de-grease surfaces and special parts for welding.
- Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
- Selects, positions, aligns and bolts parts or fixtures to be welded.
- Uses micrometers and precision measuring tools and all related hand and power tools.
- Follow, create and help maintain Welding Procedure Specifications.
- Be able to weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
- Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.
- Follow all company rules and policies.
- Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
- Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
- Perform all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Perform related work and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years industrial experience preferred: certifications may substitute for experience, i.e. two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Good knowledge of the methods and standard practices of the welding trade, various metals and alloys.
- Experience using the tools and equipment common in welding to fabricate, fit, assemble, manufacture, and repair parts and equipment; working from blueprints, plans and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances and layout of work; determine proper welding techniques for various alloys; maintaining equipment, tools and a variety of welding devices.
- Experience with steel, aluminum and/or stainless steel required.
- Experience with MIG and TIG welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality and procedure manuals.
- Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of welding area.
- Ability to consistently lift heavy items up to 60 pounds.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other technical aspects.

SALARY:
· $26.00 to $32.00/hour starting salary - commensurate with experience
