Founded in 2004, Rocky Mountain Biologicals (RMBIO) is an international biotechnology company located in Missoula, Montana. RMBIO manufactures liquid cell culture media, sera, transport media, and protein fractions for the global research, biopharma, medical, and clinical diagnostic industries.
Rocky Mountain Biologicals is a small, yet growing organization that works closely with our sister company in South Korea. We’re looking for the right person to join our team of 15 employees as a production assistant.
About the Position
Technicians and Assistants Work closely with the Production Manager, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control departments to ensure processes and products meet specifications and standards. When performing essential job functions, employees will work with manufacturing equipment, mammalian serum, and hazardous chemicals. Proper attire and adherence to safety protocols is required.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing, bioprocessing, brewing, or similar industries to perform tasks related to product manufacturing, process equipment, facility maintenance, and inventory control. Ideal candidates also have the ability and desire to learn about protein manufacturing, laboratory safety practices, and GMP manufacturing practices.
Essential Functions:
- Perform large-scale production of liquid biological products by operating and monitoring filtration systems and equipment.
- Operate automated equipment like bottle filling line.
- Complete routine manufacturing assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from standard practice is required.
- Assemble, clean, and sanitize manufacturing equipment.
- Prepare for new manufacturing runs by verifying all components/inputs are on-hand and acceptable for use, and by reporting component inventory levels.
- Weigh raw materials and chemicals to create liquid solutions.
- Accurately record component data like part numbers, lot numbers, and expiration dates, immediately before and after use in manufacturing.
- Label and package finished product.
- Complete appropriate documentation to support process and production procedures including data capture, forms, logbooks, and inventory records.
- Follow laboratory safety precautions and use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain clean room environment to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Work and perform tasks in a manner that ensures compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards such as GMP or ISO regulations.
- Retain knowledge of and consistently adhere to procedures for the use of PPE and hazardous material handling.
- Complete trainings as assigned by the Quality department to ensure compliance with company quality policies.
- Monitor and perform facility maintenance and sanitation per company schedule.
- Ability to meet production schedules in a fast-paced, high throughput industrial setting.
- Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements.
General Requirements
- Basic computer skills.
- Competency in general math and the English language, both written and verbal.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate with other departments (e.g., Quality Control, R&D, Management etc.).
- Must also be able to efficiently work independently.
- Must be adaptable and able to problem solve as issues arise.
- Ability to work flexible schedules. Standard shift is four 10-hour days, 7:00am – 5:30pm, between Monday and Friday, but occasional work outside these hours is required.
- Technicians frequently work in environments where physical conditions such as noise, heat, dampness, or cold are encountered. Duties require substantial physical exertion and will include lifting items up to 50 pounds.
