The Pre-K Staff Youth Development Professional implements exciting activities and lessons to Pre-K club members to promote afterschool learning opportunities in a fun and safe environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach the fundamental concepts Pre-K club members need to know for Kindergarten, such as identifying numbers and letters, socializing well with others, and working effectively in a classroom structure.
- Provide them with the necessary tools in social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language skills to better prepare them for Kindergarten.

Create opportunities for hands-on methods of learning, such as artistic expression, free play, and storytelling.

Develop and implement lesson plans using a variety of learning materials, activities, and experiences to challenge each child’s growth and development.

Assess each child’s developmental level and use the information acquired from the assessment and other information to assure individualization for each child.

Instill a sense of respect and discipline, so that club members work effectively in a classroom setting.

Ensure activity room and/or club space is clean, safe, and well-organized by assisting in all cleaning duties of the activity room and/or the club as requested or required.

Assist with preparation and cleanup of all meals; sits with the children for safety supervision during meals.

Communicate with parents and teachers to ensure that each club member is progressing according their needs.

Communicate with parents when members have disciplinary and/or injury reports.
- Develop and implement plans to involve parents/guardians in their child’s education, including parent trainings and volunteering.

Help train, mentor and monitor new hires and part-time staff that will be working with Pre-K club members.

Attend and participate in meetings, work groups, individual training and training conferences as assigned. This includes attending all-staff trainings.

Help with recruitment of Pre-K club members.

Comply with all Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley Policies and Procedures and other applicable Early Childhood Standards such as DHS/DOE Licensing, CACFP, and Department of Health Standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

Print and maintain attendance logs, bus rosters, and sign-in/out sheets as needed.
- Fee Collection/Vendor Voucher
- Utilize Vision tracking system for membership information.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Club per state and company standards.

Provide meals to youth per United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) standards.

Provide mild disciplinary action to youth.
-
Supervise youth on school busses.

Attend Club programs, activities, field trips, and other special events.

Create bulletin boards for youth.
-
Orient volunteers to the Club, youth, and service opportunities. Oversee volunteers serving within the Club.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook)

Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations.

Ability to effectively collaborate, staff, directors, youth, and the community.

Ability to meet the needs of youth of all ages and backgrounds and to modify lesson plans to meet individual needs.

Efficiently use standard office equipment such as printers, fax machines, and phones

Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.

Ability to remain active and energetic for 6+ hours.
REQUIREMENTS:

21+ years of age
-
High school diploma or GED required
-
3+ years of experience with youth preferred
-
Must pass local, state, and national criminal background checks
-
Must pass initial drug screening and subsequent drug tests
-
CPR Certification (certification offered by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley post-hire)
