DEFINITION
Under general supervision, plans, coordinates and implements the activities, operations, and duties in support of the City's information systems and networking infrastructure; coordinates assigned activities with other departments and divisions, outside agencies, and the general public; provides complex professional staff assistance in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be able to lead, implement, and maintain the systems of the City. The Administrator will have substantial experience and knowledge of enterprise systems including engineering and administration, operational characteristics, services, and complex principles and practices of computer systems management, analysis, design, programming, and maintenance. The candidate will bring their experience in overseeing enterprise network servers and applications, ensuring that all systems are current and functioning. Is team-orientated with innovative ideas, customer service driven, and skilled in accurate and effective communications. Possesses an engaging and collaborative management style and high ethical and professional values.
Is knowledgeable in data processing management and general administration practices and techniques including cybersecurity practices and technology strategic planning. Has an understanding of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes, regulations, data management theory, principles, and practices. Has the ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and demonstrate credibility, fairness, and trustworthiness in all interactions and decision-making. Is detail-oriented, motivated, and flexible. Displays outstanding integrity, prudence and independent judgment within general policy, procedural and legal guidelines.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a related field.
Experience
Four (4) years of recent related responsible computer systems, systems analysis, network management, or related experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess and maintain a valid California class C driver license and have a satisfactory driving record. Microsoft Certified Software Engineer or Certified Netware Engineer is desirable.
