The incumbent in this position will be responsible for assisting the ARS team, at the direction of supervisors. They will support the UCSF Research Compliance groups by creating, communicating, and implementing requirements; configuring system functionality to meet end user needs; troubleshooting system issues; development of ad hoc reports;, and working on and in support of projects such as integration of IRB compliance system data with other research administration systems\. They will help establish objectives and work plans and assist with performing the tasks necessary to accomplish the tasks that align with the agreed upon outcomes.
This position will be heavily involved in system analysis, data migration, system demonstrations, configuration, testing, and support as well as developing system documentation that aids users with use and management of the system. The incumbent in this position will analyze complex issues, document use cases, and work within defined procedures and practices, recommending the appropriate action. In addition, they will need to intimately learn the system to provide adequate support for end users.
This position works with different levels of stakeholders in the research areas including the other departmental IT resources and third-party vendors to support different areas of research. Works with stakeholders to configure the system and reports changes needed to meet business processes and requirements, and based on those requirements provides recommended technical solutions, and tools. These solutions will be supported by central IT and the incumbent will be working with and a part of that team to either enhance or expand current offerings to support business and security requirements or provide recommendations for successful support.
The Research System Analyst will work closely with the IRB Compliance System Supervisor, Research Systems Business Analysis, Research Solutions Architect, and BSIP Program Manager as well as various members of the ARS team, to oversee the implementation, set-up and management of the research services and support. In addition, they will need to work with the various teams in UCSF’s central IT and learn how they can be used to meet the requirements of the research community. Areas include UCSF’s Security, Compliance, Research Data, Research Administrative Applications and Research Infrastructure (on prem and cloud).
