General Purpose of Job:
Under the direction of the Office Manager the receptionist will be responsible for telephone communications and greeting patients as outlined below.
Verifies patient demographic and insurance information.
Obtains Insurance and Medicaid Authorizations prior to patients' office appointment and surgical procedures
Assists with scheduling of patient surgeries and procedures Performs other clerical duties as assigned

Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.

Adheres to hospital policies and procedures

Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines

Obtains insurance authorization prior to the patients' office appointments & inpatients direct admits Schedule appointments and forwards calls to appropriate persons.

Reschedules patients appointments when necessary

Verifies and enters patient demographics to include satellite clinics

Verifies and insurance information

Assist patients in completing various forms

Explains billing policies, collects co-payments, refers private pay patients to the collections Manager and generates receipts for patients

Answers the telephone in a professional and courteous manner, takes messages, directs calls to appropriate staff members

Photocopies patient schedule sheets each day, pulls the next day charts, prepares charts for new patients

Maintains daily patient logs

Occasionally files lab results, test results, operative notes, face sheets and other various forms in patient charts daily.

Collects payments and generates receipts for patients

Reconciliation of daily patient logs with super-bill packets

Responsible for entering daily charges for office visits

Assists nursing staff with putting patients in rooms, as necessary

Maintains a good working relationship with office staff members and physicians

Meets dress code standards and appearances neat and clean

Able to deal with difficult situations periodically either by phone or at the front window Assist with duties as assigned by the Manager.
Education and/or Experience:
—Two years experience medical environment.
—High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
