Audit Supervisor

Dempsey Vantrease & Follis PLLC is a well-established, mid-sized firm with over 40 years of experience in Middle Tennessee. We are seeking an experienced Audit Supervisor to join our team and contribute to the continued success of our clients and firm. In this role, you will be part of a team with an open-door policy between the partners and staff.
Purpose of the Job:
The Audit Supervisor will lead audit engagements in a variety of industries. In this role, you will maintain key client relationships and serve as the primary contact for clients providing timely, high quality client service. This position is also responsible for supervising the activities of the audit team to ensure that all work is delivered to the highest standard.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Perform audit procedures including risk assessments, tests of controls, substantive testing, and sample selection
- Analyze financial statements and records to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control standards
- Oversee the efforts of multiple client engagements at once, in a variety of industries with the ability to manage and budget
- Identify control weaknesses and work with management to recommend improvements
- Effectively & actively communicate important and time sensitive matters
- Research and interpret accounting standards and principles
- Prepare clear and concise audit workpapers documenting procedures performed
- Assist in drafting reports to communicate audit findings and recommendations
- Stay updated on audit standards, regulations, and the Firm’s policies and procedures
- Actively participate in recruiting talent to the firm.
- Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 5 or more years’ experience in an external or internal audit role
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
- Ability to lead and contribute within the firm’s culture and values
- Professional competency and proficiency in auditing and financial reporting functions
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and internal control standards
- Demonstrate a commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and audit software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to be self-directed, work with a team or autonomously
- Excellent client development/relationship building skills
- Ability to resolve complex accounting issues
- Ability to travel to client offices in the Middle Tennessee area
- Excellent written, verbal & listening communication skills with clients and team members
- Organizational skills & ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
