As an Investment Associate (Fixed Income), you will join our dynamic trading and portfolio management team and be introduced to the essentials of fixed income trading, including model analysis, trade preparation, and portfolio reporting. This role is designed for individuals with a foundational understanding of fixed income markets who are eager to develop their trading and analytical skills in a fast-paced environment.
As a Junior Fixed Income Trader, you’ll be responsible for:
- Support senior traders with fixed income trading activities (municipal, corporate, treasury, etc.)
- Participate in block trading across client accounts.
- Help maintain bond ladders.
- Assist in weekly fixed income portfolio surveillance.
- Engage in financial modeling and ad hoc investment research projects.
- Communicate effectively with financial advisors, internal departments, and firm leaders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support informed investment decisions aligned with the firm’s strategy.
- Stay informed on global market trends and contribute ideas for new investment strategies.
- Adhere to compliance standards set by FINRA, SEC, and other governing entities.
- Maintain technical competence by staying updated on industry developments.
- Identify opportunities with trading processes to streamline and automate to enhance efficiencies
- Assist with research and selection of fixed income opportunities
- Assist in ad-hoc projects to improve firm operational efficiency and fulfill compliance requirements
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics
- Basic knowledge of fixed income markets and investment strategies
- Demonstrated analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
- Strong planning and time management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, familiarity with VBA is a plus.
- Python knowledge is preferred.
- Understanding credit analysis and portfolio risk management is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Series 65 or willingness to obtain within three months of hire.
- Flexible and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment
- Self-motivated and proactive team player who takes ownerships and accountability of responsibilities
