Laboratory Research Technician
The Institute for Clinical Pharmacodynamics (ICPD) is a center of pharmacometric excellence recognized throughout the world. We help pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies get safer and more effective drugs to patients through advanced methods of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics system analysis.
ICPD is currently seeking a full-time Laboratory Research Technician to conduct in vivo and in vitro experiments. A Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, or biological/chemical engineering is required. Laboratory Technician Certificates with microbiology experience also accepted. Course work in microbiology and or immunology desired, but not required.
The successful candidate will also be able to conduct the following procedures/studies correctly with reproducible results using sterile techniques and possess these related skills:
- Vivarium experience preferred.
- Familiarity with in vivo experiments, including but not limited to maintaining treatment records and proper animal handling techniques.
- Experience in maintaining high standards of animal welfare in a laboratory environment.
- Follow study and IACUC protocols and SOPs.
- Maintain a detailed notebook clearly describing the studies and results.
- Grow microbes from frozen vial to growth media for experiments.
- Generate cell lines using aseptic techniques.
- Conduct Gram stains for bacteria identification.
- Growth curve generation.
- Serial dilutions of microbial solutions and quantitative culturing of microbial suspensions.
- Make drug solutions at the required concentrations.
- Determine if a bacterial specimen is contaminated with other microbes.
- Present experimental data clearly and concisely to the project manager and supervisors at any time, including weekly laboratory meetings.
- Adapt to changing work schedules and priorities and a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional attitude.
