Performs pre-award phase grant assessment and planning activities for all federal and state funded grant activities. Responsibilities include preparation and review of federal and state funded grant proposals, budgets, compliance and performance matters including capacity assessment and Association resource allocations.
Essential Functions:

Oversee daily and long-range management of pre-award grants/contracts and accounting functions, in accordance with all funder requirements, federal, state, and private regulations concerning such awards.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of all pre-award proposals, budgets and other financial reports for federal, state, or private awards as needed.
- Provide support to grant accounting team and program leaders to ensure compliance and adherence to grant procedures, financial reporting and other compliance matters.
- Assist Director of Grant Management in preparation and execution of the YMCA’s Annual Single Audit.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all required internal and external partnerships in the effective delivery of accounting services, available Association resources and financial reporting compliance.
- Ensure all planned accounting and grant activities are in compliance with applicable regulations, accounting standards, internal and funder deadlines, and standard operating procedures.
- Special projects as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Minimum of 5 years of professional grant management experience, strong background in the oversight of grants administration, management and billings.

History of operational nonprofit experience is highly desirable, including the ability to continuously improve policies, and implement industry best practices.

Accounting system knowledge and the ability to effectively and efficiently utilize technology to generate and communicate financial reporting data.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically in Excel.

Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; especially as it relates to nonprofit, fund accounting, grant accounting, cost allocations, financial reporting, monthly and year-end close procedures.

Strong working knowledge of federal and state funded compliance requirements (OMB, TEA, etc.)

Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high attention to detail.

Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions, solve problems and make good decisions.

Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
COMPUTER LITERACY
Skills are essential in all of the Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access. Ability to use these programs to lighten work load, develop reports and to automate procedures is very necessary. Ability to diagnose basic PC problems and to communicate those problems is very important.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local between assigned centers during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Flexible with scheduling and availability to work operational hours of the YMCA and sites, which may include day, evenings and weekends.
