Urban Recovery is an organization focusing on the care and treatment of those suffering from substance and alcohol use disorder. We are seeking a weekend Peer Support Specialist or Recovery Coach to join our team! The Peer Support Specialist assists in the delivery of substance abuse treatment by meeting the client’s immediate needs for direction, information, motivation, guidance, and safe escort outside the facility. They also provide support services as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Teach and role model the value of every individual’s recovery experience.

Assisting clients in identifying personal goals for recovery through individual and group sessions.

Teaching clients how to identify and combat negative self-talk.

Facilitating Morning Meeting and Step Groups.

Providing forums to allow yourself and clients to share experiences.

Assure that clients adhere to program activity schedule.

Escorting the client(s) to destinations outside the facility.

Assisting with room checks on all clients if necessary.

Assisting in the de-escalation of clients when needed.

Speaking with clients who want to leave against medical advice (AMA): identify reasons to stay in treatment and consequences of leaving.

Ensuring the safety of clients when leaving the facility (walk client to the bus; wait with client for taxi pick-up, etc.).

Provides daily reports of activity throughout the day to the leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
-
Certified Addiction Recovery Coach CARC/CRPA in NY

One (1) year of related work experience
