Position Overview:
- The Job Coach position is a full-time instructor for a community-based day support service dedicated to empowering adults challenged with intellectual disabilities.
- The primary responsibility of the Job Coach is to provide unwavering support, compassionate care, and vigilant supervision for up to three adults as they engage in a variety of activities of their choosing within their local communities.
- These activities encompass work and community navigation, as well as attending occasional classes and special events.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Previous experience in behavior management is preferred.
- Possess a valid driver's license and have access to an insured passenger car for short-distance transportation of adults.
- Clean DMV record with no DUI convictions within the past seven years.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support and assistance to adults with intellectual disabilities in their daily activities.
- Encourage and empower individuals to make choices regarding their activities and engage in their communities.
- Assist in navigating the local community, including transportation to and from various locations.
- Facilitate participation in occasional classes and special events.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals to develop essential life skills.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to develop and implement individualized support plans.
- Document and maintain accurate records of daily activities and progress. Promote positive behavior management techniques and crisis intervention strategies when
- needed.
