Position Summary
As the Compliance Associate at Terrabis, you will play a crucial role in ensuring strict adherence to regulatory guidelines while maintaining our license integrity. Your primary responsibilities will be providing administrative support to the Compliance Manager, but at times will be required to provide guidance to our retail and manufacturing teams on compliance/regulatory matters, as well on METRC (Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting Compliance) and Biotrack matters. Your dedication to meticulous record-keeping and process oversight will be instrumental in upholding our commitment to regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with our Compliance Manager to maintain compliance with all non-technical regulatory aspects and to ensure our operations consistently meet all state requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledge of Missouri/Illinois rules and regulations relating to the cannabis industry.
- Application of the rules and regulations to company policies, procedures, operations, and training.
- Act as a point of contact for all retail and manufacturing compliance-related questions.
- Work with the Compliance Manager to develop compliance program goals and initiatives.
- Execute regular and random internal audits to identify non-compliant company activities.
- Conduct facility risk assessments and generate associated reports of findings.
- Support the Compliance Manager in maintaining and enforcing safety standards for all facilities.
- Review marketing, advertising, packaging, SOPs and other materials to assure compliance with Missouri and Illinois regulations and statutes.
- Assist/lead municipal and state regulatory and/or law enforcement agency inspections.
- Review and monitor required operational and training paperwork from all departments to ensure compliance with state laws and company policies.
- Review and track emerging legislation and regulatory revisions for applicability to company operations.
- Assist with maintaining METRC/Biotrack oversight and monitoring of employee use and/or misuse and complete all ongoing METRC/Biotrack training and certifications as deemed necessary from seed to sale.
- Assist with conducting and preparing reports relating to internal investigations associated with losses, diversions, package adjustment reports or violations of regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Work with the Compliance Manager to respond to regulatory incidents, emergencies, and/or criminal activities that require a response or notification to the Department of Cannabis Regulation (DCR).
- Work with the Compliance Manager to create and/or update all corporate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and SOP based employee training materials and submit same to DCR as applicable for notification purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience maintaining compliance at a retail and/or wholesale facility in the cannabis industry (e.g., cultivation and/or manufacture of consumer-packaged goods).
- Must have the ability to develop and foster strong working relationships throughout all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Minimum of 6 months direct experience overseeing METRC and/or Biotrack for a cannabis wholesale and/or retail facility.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills; the ability to either predict and/or identify and drive problem/issue to resolution in partnership with stakeholders.
- Experience interacting with state regulatory bodies preferred.
- Working knowledge or ability to develop working knowledge of security and surveillance systems and methodology.
- Excellent people and communication skills (verbal and written), with ability to successfully explain complex matters and provide persuasive support for positions with internal stakeholders, outside partners, and to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to successfully manage a high-volume workload with tight deadlines.
- Capable of handling confidential information discreetly and professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Experience with project management.
- All applicants must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
- Can be remote but must reside in IL or MO and must be willing to travel to each state.
