Start training for a lifetime of success today. Join Beacon, a division of the International SOS team. We are looking for a Full time Occupational Health Technician/ Paramedic for our remote site in Prudhoe Bay , Alaska starting April 30, 2024.
About the role
This position provides client/patient occupational health and medical testing. The Occupational Health Technician (OH Tech) is responsible for performing a variety of occupational health testing procedures at the Prudhoe Bay remote clinic(s) as well as some on-site field testing, performing data entry of testing results, generating compliance reports for clients, performing drug and alcohol collections, supporting the medical providers with their patients, on-call medical emergency response, answering phones, scheduling, and filing. The OH Tech will assist in ensuring the delivery of excellent quality, customer focused services, continuous improvement and maximizing the efficiency and development of the employees and organization. This position is also responsible for providing medical emergency response team training to client and contractors.
Qualifications:
- Must have a current Alaska Paramedic license
- Current CPR, ACLS certification required
- PHTLS/ITLS certifications preferred
- Strong phlebotomy experience
- CAOHC, NIOSH, PFT, drug and alcohol collection certificates and training preferred and/or ability to attend courses
- 5+ years remote and/or emergency response experience preferred
- Preferred experience working on the North Slope, Alaska
Key responsibilities

- Comply with the regulatory agency rules and regulations to assure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to multi-task and serve as a technical resource.
- Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to handle and implement change with minimal disruption.
- Ensure that standards of care are met, and procedures are followed.
- Ability to perform and/or understand all technical aspects of the clinical services division to include EKGs, Audiograms, RMA/Pulmonary Function Test, Respirator Fit Testing, Labs, Vitals, Patient Triage, Drug & Alcohol Collections, etc.
- Strong Phlebotomy experience required.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Solid understanding of operations in the clinic as well as the field.
- Understanding of operating systems to include Athena, Cority, Clinical Software, etc.
- Comply with all applicable policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Remain current and competent in industry, service area scope, and clinical skills necessary to meet the responsibilities of the position.
Travel/ Rotation Requirements:
This position is a twelve (12) hour per day (6 AM to 6 PM) rotation two (2) weeks on, two (2) weeks off rotation. Employee is responsible for travel to/from home state to Anchorage, Alaska. Employer provides transportation from Anchorage, AK to work site in Prudhoe Bay (North Slope, AK).
Contingencies
Offer contingent upon ability to pass a pre-employment drug testing (federal panel), physical exam, background check, and motor vehicle report.
