The Niagara County Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services is expanding our services! We have an opening for an experienced Mental Health Counselor/Social Worker in our Crisis Services Program.
The Senior Licensed Clinician for Crisis Services will work in the call center at Crisis Services providing oversight and guidance to the Crisis Services Phone Aides who are triaging calls. This position will occasionally also provide support or backup to the Mobile Crisis Team as well. This position will work with individuals that are in crisis or need stabilization in the community providing telephonic or Zoom screening and assessment including lethality assessments, safety planning, setting up community resources to promote stability. This position will also complete post-crisis follow up to individuals that have recently been in a crisis situation to assure that they have needed supports and community linkages.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing support, guidance, and oversight to Crisis Services Phone Aides;
- Conducting screening and assessment including lethality assessments;
- Engaging in crisis de-escalation with callers (telephonically or via zoon) and safety planning;
- Referral/linkages as needed to supports and services;
- Collaboration with family members, care managers, and other providers;
- Tracking of relevant data and participation in CQI projects.
This position works with other Crisis Services team members as well as Niagara County’s outpatient staff members. Typical hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 4:00pm – 12:00am. This is a mostly office-based position, with occasional need for in-community work and occasional paid, on-call responsibilities (1 – 2 times per month) as part of our mobile crisis team. Candidates must have a masters degree and be licensed in NYS as an LMHC, LMFT, LCAT, LMSW, LCSW or LCSW-R and have three (3) or more years experience in a mental health related setting.
This is a civil service opportunity, open to residents of Niagara county and counties adjacent to Niagara (including Erie, Genesee, and Orleans).
