JOB DESCRIPTION: INFUSION COORDINATOR (AIC)
Description of Responsibilities
The Infusion Coordinator is responsible for coordinating infusion services for patients/clients arranged at our Ambulatory Infusion Center (AIC). They will order and maintain an inventory of medications and supplies necessary to provide infusion services. They will also collaborate with the Nurse Practitioner (NP) in resolving patient care issues and scheduling conflicts. The Infusion Coordinator plays a key role in quality assurance monitoring for infusion services.

Responsibilities include the following:
1. Coordinates infusion and nursing services for the AIC, including handling incoming referral calls and completing referral forms.
2. Responsible for transcribing detailed and accurate information into the computer system correctly, including but not limited to demographics, Insurance information, Physician information, and patient information.
3. Attaching appropriate payers into the patient record.
4. Handles electronic faxes as appropriate.
5. Completes patient admit packets for all new patients and forwards them to the NP.
6. Provide infusion orders to NP and/or RN.
7. Verifies Insurance and requests all authorizations when needed within 24 hours of the referral. Must follow each insurance contract’s protocol when requesting authorizations.
8. Communicate with patient/caregiver, physician/prescriber, and NP the status of all authorizations pending or received and enter into the computer system.
9. The infusion coordinator is responsible for verifying that all codes in the authorization are correct and have been included.
10. Consults and confirms with the NP and/or GM/COO regarding reimbursement rates as applicable.
11. Orders the medications and supplies for the AIC under the guidance and direction of the NP.
12. Provides ongoing communication with the prescriber concerning patient infusions and outcomes.
13. Maintains the patient schedule for all infusions at the AIC.
14. Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the GM/COO.
15. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have one year of Infusion Center experience.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to express technical issues in “layman” terms.
- Fluency in a second language is a plus.
- Must be friendly, professional, cooperative, and a good aptitude for customer service and problem-solving.
Education and/or Experience:
- Must have a High School diploma or Graduation Equivalent Diploma (G.E.D.) or higher.
- Prior experience in a Specialty or Infusion Pharmacy is a plus.
- Prior experience in a consumer-related business is preferred.
