OTA The Koomar Center in Newton, MA is looking to expand our services. We are a nationally and internationally recognized state-of-the-art outpatient clinic providing the highest quality evidence-based occupational and speech-language therapy services to children and adolescents.
The Position:
We are looking for a Licensed Mental Health Provider (LMHC, LICSW, or LMFT) to develop an inhouse mental health program while providing family based and individual treatment to children, teens, and young adults with a wide variety of presenting mental health concerns and backgrounds. This position will start with part-time hours with the potential to grow to a full-time salaried position. This is a terrific opportunity to join an interprofessional team with a shared vision of providing comprehensive and effective services to the families we have the privilege to meet.
As we have grown over the last four decades, our goal has remained unchanged - to provide the highest quality care to our clients and families. The ideal candidate will have training and experience delivering evidence-based treatments and will report to the Executive Director.
We are eager to hire a clinician to support our clients with a wide range of concerns including sensory processing disorder, developmental trauma, anxiety and OCD, depression, Autism, ADHD. Clinical experience or expertise in family therapy, early relational health, and elementary school age care. Teen and adolescence care and adoption/foster care is preferred.
We promote clinical mentoring with leading experts and professional development for all our staff.
Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct thorough assessments to understand the mental health needs of children and adolescents.
- Diagnose and formulate treatment plans based on assessment findings.
- Therapeutic Interventions:
- Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy to address emotional and behavioral issues.
- Implement age-appropriate therapeutic interventions to facilitate positive outcomes.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with parents, guardians, teachers, and other involved parties to create a collaborative and supportive network for the child.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for the client.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and any relevant correspondence.
- Advocacy:
- Advocate for the mental health needs of children and adolescents within the community and educational settings.
- Education and Prevention:
- Provide psychoeducation to parents, caregivers, and other relevant individuals to enhance understanding and support for the child's mental health.
- Develop and implement prevention programs to address mental health issues in a proactive manner.
Qualifications:
- Master’s in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Current and valid state licensure as a mental health clinician.
- Specialized training or experience in pediatric mental health.
- Strong knowledge of child development, psychopathology, and evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, and their families.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Experience working with electronic medical/health records as well as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
