Under the general direction of the Field Engineering Manager (Supervising Oil and Gas Engineer), the Senior Oil and Gas Engineer (Supervisor) will function as a Field Supervising Engineer for the Division’s Central District office. The incumbent will directly supervise technical engineering staff responsible for the inspection, enforcement, reporting, and safe practices of oil and gas operations, including production and injection facilities, and provide oversight over the Division’s environmental protection programs within the District. This position requires a high degree of skill in hydrocarbon technology and complex GIS methodologies.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet Minimum Qualifications, the applicant will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Applicants who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Working Conditions
This position is located in Bakersfield and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must reside in California and be able to satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely. The hybrid telework schedule will allow for up to three days of remote work per week depending on department needs.
Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview but must show proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
