Homefull is a non-profit addressing the needs of people who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness or are formerly homeless. Our approach is addressing housing stability, food access, and increasing income in order to help stabilize people and prevent a return to homelessness. Our Finance Team provides vital support to our programs addressing housing, food, and jobs within the Homefull service areas. Meeting high quality standards for finance and record keeping, all positions on the Finance Team are responsible for contributing to the mission of the organization and ensuring high quality fiscal records. This position, Finance Associate, will play a critical role in Homefull’s finance department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Attention to detail and understanding of accounting principles will be essential to the smooth operation of Homefull’s financial processes.
Job Summary
The Finance Associate will assist in maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and assisting with various accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Summary of essential job functions:
- Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes;
- Receiving and verifying invoice amounts;
- Processing invoices through accounting software;
- Depositing funds received and properly record;
- Recording day-to-day financial transactions accurately;
- Tracking accounts receivable and payable as needed;
- Ensure adherence to government regulations and policies related to fund accounting;
- Preparing monthly billing for all contract dollars which include federal, state, local, and private grants;
- Tracking of federal, state, local, and private grants across a variety of fiscal years;
- Maintaining all cash accounts at appropriate level;
- Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management;
- Correcting any inaccuracies and errors as needed;
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with policies and procedures;
- Adhering to all the accounting rules and regulations.
- Attending meetings, events, and functions to represent agency as requested;
- Representing Homefull in a professional and positive manner, showing dignity and respect to all;
- Engaging in teamwork approach to meeting the goals of the strategic plan for Homefull;
- Completing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or other related field or relevant experience. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Abilities Required
Great analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills. Well organized and the ability to complete tasks in a timely and complete manner. Has the ability to handle confidential information. Computer literate and able to utilize accounting software in addition to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Can communicate effectively using electronic means such as email, text messaging, etc.
