Samuel Knight Energy is actively seeking a Senior Project Developer for placement with one of our clients. The role primarily focuses on assisting in the advancement of significant solar, hybrid, and standalone energy storage projects within the NYISO area.
The preferred candidate should have extensive industry and project development expertise, robust leadership and communication capabilities, keen attention to detail, problem-solving proficiency, and the ability to navigate between intricate details and a broader perspective. Initiative, a results-driven mindset, and successful collaboration with teams are essential attributes. Practical development experience within the designated geographic region is a requirement, with a particular focus on candidates who can demonstrate experience in leading projects to the Notice to Proceed (NTP) stage.
The role provides flexibility, allowing candidates to choose between being based in North Carolina, Texas, or New York. Additionally, experienced candidates with a background in remote work may have the option of working from a remote location.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead development activities from the initial planning stages to the Notice to Proceed (NTP), collaborating with internal teams on various aspects such as site acquisition, real estate, permitting, interconnection, engineering, survey, environmental considerations, offtake, and policy.
- Prioritize, coordinate, review, and monitor crucial development deliverables by engaging with internal and external teams, as well as consultants.
- Effectively manage and report project data, including budget, schedule, and deliverables.
- Ensure the timely attainment of development milestones within budgetary constraints, facilitating the progression of projects to financing and construction phases.
- Collect market intelligence and establish relationships with government agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders to improve project development and permitting processes.
- Prepare and submit land use permitting applications, implement permitting strategies, oversee consultants, and participate in permitting meetings and hearings.
- Review and supervise project contract compliance for leases, interconnection agreements, and power purchase agreements.
- Cultivate strategic relationships with development, finance, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partners.
- Regularly travel to project sites and company offices.
- Contribute to and take the lead in the development of strategies and process enhancements for the market.
- Propose and manage development budgets.
- Support the offtake origination team in advancing assets within the market.
- Lead market and business development initiatives related to functional areas in market development.
Requirements:
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in a pertinent field (such as business/finance, urban/regional planning, civil/electrical/power systems engineering, landscape architecture/architectural sciences, or environmental sciences).
- An advantageous qualification includes a Master's degree in energy, sustainability, urban planning, engineering, or business.
- Demonstrated experience of 4+ years in the field of renewable energy project development.
- Proficiency in various essential areas, including project management, budgeting, organizational skills, and analytical problem-solving.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong work ethic combined with the ability to initiate tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- A mindset that is results-driven and oriented towards finding effective solutions.
