DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop shift work assignments in accordance with available resources prioritizing the care needs of the resident within thirty (30) minutes of the beginning of the shift.
- Make rounds as frequently as necessary to ensure safe adequate delivery of care to assigned residents.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the shift, and unit.
- interact with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers in a diplomatic manner demonstrating good customer service skills.
- Collaborate with support staff to ensure medical records are maintained according to facility policy and other guidelines.
- Administer medications and treatments as scheduled and monitor designed therapeutic outcomes.
- Provide direct nursing care to residents as needed inclusive of observing and reporting changes in health status, carrying out delegated diagnostic practices consistent with scope of practice.
- Provide direct nursing care, and continue assessment of residents acutely ill until stable or transferred.
- Keep the Resident Care Coordinator or Shift Supervisor informed of the status of residents and other related matters through written/oral reports.
- Provide Therapeutic and restorative rehabilitation measures including collection and handling of specimens, ambulation, bowel and bladder assessment, and documentation.
- Monitor acutely ill residents as necessary taking complete vital signs and interpreting the significance of vital signs.
- Supervise nursing personnel in assigned areas relative to the technical aspects of resident care.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
- Demonstrate an interest in Gerontological Nursing
- Must have knowledge of demonstrative critical thinking skills
EDUCATION:
- Must have a current RN licensure in the District of Columbia
- Must be a graduate of an approved School of Nursing

Pay: $41.60 - $45.00 per hour
