Job Description
The Grants & Philanthropy Specialist is responsible for contributing to the overall mission of Capital Caring Health and supporting the patients and families we serve through activities directly related to the identification, solicitation, tracking, and reporting of grants, sponsorships, and major gifts from a variety of donors, and as a collaborative member of the Capital Caring Health Philanthropy Team. This position will help to drive and support strong, lasting relationships with Foundations and other funding sources to advance Capital Caring Health’s interests, and maintains its strong community presence in the DC, Virginia, and Maryland region. The Specialist will contribute to high quality, persuasive proposals and reports to ensure all grant application, renewal, and reporting criteria and commitments are upheld and on time for public and private fundraising for unrestricted as well as restricted programmatic support. The Specialist will help to development portfolios to support deeper Major Gifts and Corporate Sponsorship donor cultivation and development strategies. The Specialist will form relationships with a variety of internal program teams at all levels of the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Within the philosophy, objectives and policies of Capital Caring Health, carries out the following essential functions:
Quality Provision of Services:
Maintains internal Grants Tracker, supporting documentation, and corresponding calendar to ensure proactive oversight of prospective funding, pledges, funds received, and reporting commitments. Updates donor database, RaisersEdge NXT, with cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising activities. Conducts grant/funder prospect and suspect research, validation as directed using various tools and resources. Tracks and communicates with key internal staff due dates and requirements for interim and year-end grant reporting. Proofreads grant proposals and LOIs as needed. Collects and updates frequently requested financial and organizational documentation. Collects internal reporting data for all grants, as requested and on time, from internal CCH sources and program leads. Contributes to the development and submission of timely interim and final reports to grantors as requested and in collaboration with Program managers and Vice President Public Affairs & Philanthropy. Contributes to the development and submission of low $ grant applications and LOI’s, as requested, and in support of grant-seeking strategy and priority. Establishes and maintains funder portal administrative activities, including access and troubleshooting. Supports special projects as assigned, including but not limited to, capital campaigns, special events, and marketing activities. In-person visits to both current and future Capital Caring Health inpatient units, Thrift Store, and general buildings and/or offices as necessary. Attend in-person meetings with current and/or potential funders as requested, and within the local DC, Virginia, Maryland community. No travel outside of the immediate areas described will be required. Collaborate with all Philanthropy team functions including database management, acknowledgement, major donor, and corporate sponsorship programs, and will contribute to marketing, communications, events, and public affairs & outreach activities.
Organizational Compliance:
Ensure all organizational and financial documentation and data is updated, stored, and shared in compliance with Capital Caring Health process and procedures. Ensures fundraising best practice in all activities including but not limited to financial tracking of donor funds, reporting, tracking, and cultivation activities.
People/Communications:
Maintains relationships with grantor/Foundation staff, grant portal administrators, and agency/consultant partners. Works closely with CCH clinical and non-clinical program staff to help develop and translate programmatic outlines and summaries to achieve financial support from Foundations and other public or private entities. Establishes and maintains current information for contacts and relationships, internally, externally and for all current or prospective funders, and within the database-of-record. Provides essential information to marketing and communications teams when grants are awarded. Participates in events, activities, and visits to Capital Caring Health in-patient units or offices as requested by Vice President of Public Affairs & Philanthropy or Chief Marketing, Communications, and Philanthropy Officer.

Achieve expected productivity standard as defined by the organization and in alignment with best practices. Accurately represents Capital Caring Health, its programs, mission, impact, financial needs and history in all interactions.

Experience Requirements
The Grants & Philanthropy Specialist must have at least 1– 2 years’ experience in a professional environment, preferably nonprofit and/or healthcare. Fundraising or grants management exposure preferred.
Education Requirements:
The Grants & Philanthropy Specialist must have at least an Associate’s Degree in a related field; Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Works in business office with computers, printers, copy/fax machines and telephones. The noise level in the work environment is usually light to moderate. The environmental conditions are that of what is to be expected in a temperature-controlled building. Occasionally required to drive to alternate work location

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
