Job Title: Elementary/Middle School Special Education Teacher
Position Summary:
Vision Academy Charter School is seeking dynamic and passionate elementary special education teachers to make a huge impact on their students’ lives. Vision Academy Charter School special education teachers show an unwavering commitment to improving the knowledge, skills, and lives of students with disabilities. Special Education Teachers ensure that students meet academic success in their classrooms as measured by achievement on the Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, student grades, and the PSSA. Vision is looking for teachers who are committed to outrageously high expectations and high support for students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Driving student achievement for students with disabilities
- Responding to progress monitoring results and student assessment data
- Establishing a positive, structured, achievement-focused classroom
- Providing support to students, parents, and general education staff and supporting student learning
- Mentoring and coaching students on self-regulation and organizational skills
- Developing effective IEPs that translate into measurable results for students
- Providing leadership as a member of the Special Education team
- Tutor students on an individual basis and sponsor an afterschool club.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for students with disabilities
- Familiarity with the social-emotional needs of students
- Previous use and understanding of the IEP Writer system
- Comprehensive understanding of PBIS methodology
- Receptiveness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve
- A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement
- A belief that all students should be held to high academic standard
- Ability to adjust instructional strategies in order to reach year-end goals
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Must have or be working towards teacher certification
- Demonstrated expertise in subject area
- Classroom teaching experience in an urban school setting
- Documented experience using data-driven instruction to achieve significant student gains
- Documented experience, knowledge, skills using technology to improve instruction
- Documented Experience and knowledge with Core Knowledge Sequence is preferred
Physical Requirements:
Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away, stooping, kneeling, fine finger and hand manipulation in use of a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board or projector.

Compensation Package:
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes the following:
- The starting base salary ($60,000) is competitive and commensurate with experience.
- Additional stipend for hard-to-fill positions (Math, Science, SPED, Tech).
- Tuition Reimbursement program for Continued education ($3000/Year).
- Pay increase for continued education (B+15, Masters, M+30) in a related field.
- Longevity Pay for every three years completed.
- Performance-based bonus programs ($7,500 based on a board policy) to award teachers’ efforts.
- Reimbursement Incentive for Moving and Housing Expenses ($3000.00 one time based on a board policy).
